SA companies are not capable maintaining warranties as is, let alone with you opening the thing to change pads.

Some have said that it voids the warranty. Obviously if you have to rma it and you send it in with different pads then suppliers will look for any reason to void the warranty.
However, if you do it smartly, I don’t see they could find out. I have taken out the original pads and kept them safely in a zip lock.
There are no seals that need to be broken to open the card. If I need to rma, I will open it again and replace with the original pads.

btw, the new gigabyte cards seems to have better pads and also include pads on the backplate.

Bear in mind that’s it’s still risky though.

If I may ask, which new Gigabyte cards do these happen to be? 👀

I have a gaming oc that’s about 2 months old. Had no thermal pads on the backplate and the pads on the front just gave off oil. So I replaced them with thermal grizzly and added backplate.

The new gaming oc I got about 2 weeks ago seems to be a lot better and has pads on the back as well. It actually runs better than my older one with thermal grizzly.

Now I just have 2k worth of gelid pads that I bought expecting to change them.

Having spare thermal pads, paste or other stuff is never bad so I’m sure it’s worth holding onto them.

It’s really cool that they fixed their crap though. I don’t suppose you took one of those Gaming OCs off Senshi?

Yeah, will keep them. Maybe they will increase in value like everything else these days.

Nope.
Regardless I’m really glad you shared this info. Might have more confidence going for a Vision card.

They probably got a lot of negative feedback about the pads and decided to fix them.

hope it lasts though... time will tell.

I hope they do, would only be a good sign for everyone else as well. All this talk about Gigabyte thermal pads and dangerous G6X temps leads me to wonder how fucked my 3080 Eagle I sold way back in January is now.

sorry for the late reply

ive confirmed with gigabyte this does NOT void your warranty , HOWEVER if you mess up and do it inproperly they will not honor the warranty

so take that as you will
