Hey all, currently I have a Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB and I'm looking to upgrade to something Abit more powerful. I've been eyeing out the 3060ti but not sure if the RTX is worth it to me. I'm looking at spending a max of between 7-9k and don't mind buying second hand as long as the card is in good condition. Would love to see your recommendations. My power supply is a 550 watt.

I have an Asus 3060ti which I got for 9999. For the money it didnt make sense to go with old cards out of warranty and at the time nobody was negotiating on 1080tis or 2080s ... this might change. I don't think I would need 4K for a while to come anyway. Was nice to have everything bumped up to max again. The only RTX thing I tried really was Quake 2 RTX. Maybe when CP2077 is fixed I might get it and try it LOL. I feel like the next thing I buy will be a 5080ti or 8800XT and that future gen might be worth getting for RT at mega resolutions

Your PSU might be an issue. What CPU do you have?

Thanks for the reply :) It seems the 3060ti might be the way to go. Looking at grabbing this one. Seems like a decent price. 3060ti

Howdy my cpu is the following:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Hex-Core 3.6GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 Desktop CPU

For interest sake my PSU is the following:

Antec EA550G PRO Earthwatts Gold Pro 550W 80 Plus Gold Certified Semi-Modular Desktop Power Supply

I got an Asus Dual for for R9999 at ComputersOnly. 2 of my mates saw it and immediately bought as well LOL. I think they only got a few in but they aren't at scalper prices.

Card itself is alot nicer than I expected it to be from the pics and quiet as well.

Hard to get a realistic pic of it with the reflections off the case but you get the idea.

I looked at the 2080S mentioned above - in fact I posted in the Hollandtech thread. It is a great deal if you already have a loop or you want to go that route anyway. Once you go down the rabbit hole it is an expensive exercise... and that card has an Aluminium block which has its own challenges (and probably why it costs what it does). I am not sure that you can just pull the block off and slap a hybrid on it without spending more than it costs to do the 3060ti.

Don't reckon there'd be a need to pull anything off, connecting an AIO should be relatively easy as is.

Bang for buck it's a better prospect than a 3060ti IMO

If performance is what you're looking for at a low price. The 3060ti equivalent would be a 1080ti. 6k-ish used. Still a very relevant and fast card.

Pick up the cheaper variants of the 3060ti like the gigabyte eagle or asus dual, your psu might not be able to handle a 1080ti depending on what else you're powering. If you aren't in a hurry, might be better to pickup the 3060 normal or amd hd6700 in late jan/feb/march if the release schedule is on track. Ignore the rtx part for a 3060 ti, true rtx performance is at 3080 levels and the latest game settings is all or nothing, there isn't a realistic medium setting for rtx.

I wouldn’t mess around with second hand over priced graphics cards, unless you can get a decent upgrade for a decent price.

I would suggest getting a 3060 when it launches.

PSU is fine

You can't do this without taking the block off to install an AIO and a G12 type housing/cooler for the VRMs/RAM etc.

I am with @Switch in that you will probably need to care about RTX in a generation or two from now. I am not about to buy a R20K card for a feature that is barely noticeable during actual gameplay, has a massive performance hit and is still sparsely implemented.

I don't think the 3060ti is a great deal if you're spending over R10K TBH but if you can find it around this price I think it makes more sense than buying very old cards that guys are not really wanting to negotiate on and which you will have to clean up and re-paste/pad etc. If I had a 1080ti or 2080 for that matter, I wouldn't bother switching... if you're buying new? Go and look at performance for these things at resolutions you play at and for games you actually play and make a call OP.
