We are Dropforg3d. We are also 2 friends that enjoy 3d printing and would like to offer our services to the masses of Carbonite.
But before we do that, here is our first post. And it is for Fil X Filament.

As this is a new thing, we will dispatch orders on Fridays. This might increase in future if required.
Exceptions can be made for larger orders.

VERY IMPORTANT
It isn't economically viable to do single spool shipments, so we recommend minimum order size to be 5 spools and up.
However, if you are happy paying for the shipping on spools of 1 to 4, we can do that.
If you do want a single spool and you are close to us, you are also welcome to pickup.

Item: 3D Printing Filament manufactured by Fil X

Price: From R280 per KG unless otherwise specified. See detailed post below.
Payment Method Accepted: EFT

These prices are good, look at signing up with Bob Go - Smart shipping and order management - Bob Go (previously called uAfrica.co.za) which connects you to couriers without needing accounts and competitive shipping rates! R60 shipping pudo to pudo ain't bad!
I had a quick look there. Doesn't look bad, but Pudo is pretty good, especially if I drop it off and then it arrives at the recipients' door. Bargain!

Can you get PLA in "Bone White"?
I will have to check with Fil X, but I suspect it is the soft white. Since I don't use PLA anymore I haven't looked at their PLA yet :D

This was a quick order from Fil X that we picked up today

And this is our first order for filament, ready for shipping tomorrow!

Hi @Dropforg3d

Im new to 3D printing and was hoping you could shed some light on a question i have.

I have a CR-10 max pro V2, i print with pla currently. If i order SBS do i need to change the nozzle to accommodate that or does it work with the same nozzle?

Would work fine with your nozzle.
The only difference would be the temps that you are printing at.

The default nozzles are all 1.75mm so as long as you keep to 1.75mm filament you should be fine.

Hi!

No nozzle changes are required. Only slicer changes are required since it prints a bit hotter than normal PLA and requires a bit more heat on the bed.

Nozzle Temp: 220°C
Bed Temp: 70°C
Part cooling fan: OFF

The easiest way to print SBS is on a glass bed using hairspray. I have however had good fortune using a flexible build plate as well.

Thanks @Dropforg3d and @SkiZo.

One last thing though. does this count for any other filament types ?

If my nozzle stays at 1.75 can i print abs, sbs, petg, pla and everything or is there a filament that requires a different type of nozzle ?

Mostly yes. The nozzle is indifferent to the types of filament, with a few exceptions. Abrasive filaments like Glow in the Dark, Carbon Fiber filled stuff and Wood filament can wear your nozzle out very quickly.

So when printing normal PLA, PETG, ABS, SBS and even TPU and TPR, no nozzle changes are required, just a good purge to make sure that your nozzle is cleared of the previous filament you had loaded.

When can we expect the next Filament Friday? :)

Whooo! I'll be there tomorrow!
Will also chat about that plate then, I feel like I need a Japanese one.

For the last week or so I have been testing something new from Fil-X. They call it ABS-X and it's special power is being printable on a printer without an enclosure.

So if you have an Ender 3 or anything similar and you have always wanted to print with ABS but have never gotten it right, this might be the answer for you.

Below is a quick preview of it in action. I chose this model to print since it has long, thin and straight lengths which are prone to warping and delamination.

Do you have a loved one that enjoys 3d printing? Do you have no idea what to get this person for Christmas?

Look no further! Filament is the perfect gift for anybody that enjoys 3d printing. Trust me. I'm one of them.
Underwear? Socks? Pffft. I'll go commando if it means I get more filament.

Order today to avoid disappointing yourself or your loved ones.

* PS: no animals were harmed in the manufacturing of this filament, only the employees of Fil X.

Happy new year to one and all!

If you want to start off the new year with some fresh filament, message us for the best price on Fil X filament anywhere in South Africa.

Fil X has also launched a new metallic colour in both PLA and SBS called Tungsten (blackish and shiny). We will be sharing some pics of this soon.

Here is a quick example of some great colour combinations

Do you need good quality filament to print that new project you want to do? You know, that life size Terminator statue?

We've got the filament you need. Well, kind of. You order and we will deliver.

Here is an example of some of the Neon colours available from Fil X. All their Neon colours are reactive to UV light or a blacklight.

If you have a computer case with some UV lights, these colours would really pop.

Get your plastic spaghetti right here!

Do you have a friend or family member that enjoys 3d printing? Get them the gift that keeps on giving: FILAMENT!
If it is for somebody you don't like and they don't have a 3d printer, buy them some filament so they HAVE to buy a 3d printer.

PS: Do not eat filament, you might poo buckets.
