Deal Thread URL: https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/hp-probook-430-g6-core-i5-8265u-13-3-x2.430249/
Seller: @Escanor Aesthetics
Buyer: @Pocahontas
Description of Bad Deal:
I asked for photos of the laptops, only received photos of the one. (unaware at the time)
I asked to see the specs, and was shown only the specs of one of them. (unaware that the other is a lower spec)
Upon receiving the laptops, the one was really scratched and dented, and was obviously not the one in the photos. It also only had 4gb of ram as opposed to the other which had 16gb ram.
I also came to find at a later stage that the one had a 500GB HDD as opposed to a 500GB SSD. He first tried to lie his way out of it with messages like "Check your messages again.. One is a 256 ssd. And the other has a normal drive" which then later became "thats mistake" ; "thats a 500 normal hdd" ; "thats what I meant".
While the above laptops were still in transit, I had actually bought another laptop from him (https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?t...-inch-fhd-laptop-intel-core-i5-10210u.431916/).
When this laptop arrived, the screen was cracked (I've bought and shipped hundreds of laptops and not once did any of them get damaged in transit).
Seller had wrapped the laptop extremely poorly. The laptop had the charger resting on the lid, and was just wrapped in cardboard (zero support on the sides). When I brought this all to sellers attention, he said it could not have happened in transit - claiming that the"box" would show signs of damage if it were the case.
I guess the risk is on me, but I do feel that as a seller, you should at least be packaging the parcel properly. I have photos of the cardboard if anyone would like to see.
The laptop also didn't have the spec that he had claimed it to have (500GB HDD as opposed to 256GB M.2 SSD). He claimed to have forgotten to swap it out, yet when I asked him to send the SSD, he said he could only do it about a week later.
There was also another lie he tried to pass:
He had sold a ProBook to someone else on Carb, and when buyer received, complained about a mark on the screen. Seller contacted me, asking me to please buy it from him, due to this scratch that the buyer is not happy with. Also sent me a video in which the buyer is showing the scratch and complaining about it. At a later stage though, seller said to me the buyer did not return it due to scratch, but rather because he had tried to resell it but the laptop took too long to arrive so he lost his potential buyer.
I had tried to get refunded for the dented laptop, the laptop with cracked screen, tried everything but the best he was willing to do was refund R500 for the cracked screen, which I had no choice but to accept. (replacement is R1,650).
I have the full chat log if needed.
I am still battling to get the 256GB M.2 SSD and 500GB SSD from hm. It ended up in him sending GIF's of babies.
Whether the drives are being sent or not, I have no idea. All I am trying to accomplish here is to get the drives which I had paid for - please assist admin.
