I have 1 column that has creation time info that looks like this: 23/07/2021 11:26:10

How do I convert this/or create a new column next to that will only display the month name (July, for example)?
The usual format cell and TEXT doesn't work, I suspect its because of the time. I have no way of getting rid of the time because this is simply the way the report is generated from our erp. Lots of solutions online for just the date but I cant find anything that includes the time

=TEXT((MID(A1,4,2)),"mmm")
If your date is in column A1

=TEXT((MID(A1,4,2)),"mmmm")
For January as opposed to Jan (etc)

Hope this helps.

Try using the CTRL + E function to extract the info that you want and then convert it to what you want

I have only used the CTLR+E function once before but found it to be quite powerful.

None of the suggestions above worked but I took the long way around to manually update the data this time. Have some time to figure something out until the next report is due

Hey man, I actually tested my ones out in excel as a new column and it worked for me. What version of excel you using?

convert to different format, then truncate as text? work around, not the right way to do it though,

Definitely not an Excel expert by any means and there's obviously a better way to do this but...
EDIT: The first reply to OP is the "better way". Tried it now and it does work.

Why not just split the column you have using a space as the delimiter (See here) and then do it as you would for a normal date as mentioned here

This is a good solution. Yeah I'm definitely not the best at excel but I managed to come right. This should help with my next report due at the end of the quarter. Thanks all for the input
