Hi All,

Selling the following. They are both +- 3 months old and bought from Marshall Music in Woodmead.
They have been barely used, not even for more than 12 hours I'd say. I no longer really have the time or energy to continue pursuing this hobby.

Item 1: Epiphone Les Paul Standard Edition (Black)
Age: 4 months
Warranty: Remainder of a year I believe with Marshall Music
Packaging: None
Condition: Superb
Location: Edenvale, JHB
Shipping: No
Collection: Yes
Price: R6k new, make me a reasonable offer for a 4 month old barely used one.

Hi Vit
I just want to know if the guitar is still available and is it possible that that you can send me some pictures of the guitar
Kind Regards
Emile

I might have someone interested in this. Can you pm me some pics? Much rather this than an Ibanez or Squire.. I am working on him to buy this.

Buy this and just upgrade the pickups to Seymour Duncans and you will never know the difference between a Gibson and this and you save R30 000 plus. One of the best buys for guitarists. Same factory as Gibson.

Cannot believe this is still here..

Aren't these made in China? I believe all Gibson's are made in the US shops, while the Epiphones are China. I have the Epi Les Paul Classic and another Epiphone and they are certainly made in China, while my Gibson is US.

But you are right this is a great buy and imo better than the equivalent Squire or Ibanez. I would replace the machine heads as well though and take it for a professional setup.

It still won't play nearly as smoothly as the Gibson but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in sound when plugged in. And these days you will save more like 30k than 20k, prices for Gibson Standards are bonkers

I had two Epi's before and now a Gibson and although the action is smoother the difference is not worth R30k. The factory might have changed though in the last 10 years. My Gibson has Pearly Gates on. Would just have the action set and serviced properly and you got an awesome guitar. JD at Marshall music priced my standard at R40k... lol

Even beats any Fender since I am a firm believer that music should not be played on car parts  Billionairebum

Epiphone moved their factory out of the states in 1969. They moved to Japan, and then from the 80's to Korea and China. The states only produced limited models. The standard wasn't one of them. ;)

Even the Heafy signature models now are made in Indonesia. Still brilliant guitars, especially if Heavy himself has changed over from Gibson to Epiphone. :) Big plus for the brand.

The Epiphone signature guitars are really well made. I have the ES-333 Tom Delonge signature and it's awesome. Though I am not personally aware of any major artists who actually play their own Epi signatures. Tom Delonge plays with a Gibson version of that guitar which is not available to the public. I know Noel Gallagher also had a Epi Sheraton signature out in the late 90s, but as far as I know he only ever played Gibsons on stage. That being said the sigs are of a higher quality than the non-sig Epi equivalents.

I have heard arguments that high end Epiphones are better than low end Gibsons, but in my experience this is not true at all (save for maybe the Gibson Melody Maker).
Mandarin yeah 40k sounds about right. I think the Standards are maybe the most overpriced guitars on earth right now. You can get an SG Standard for like 22k, and even an ES-335 for less than 40k. Really crazy.

A Gibson is still....well a Gibson!!! It's a legacy thing..Gary Moore would just not look the same with a Epi... Nor would Slash..

I beg your pardon lol... My Ibanez will kick this thing's ass... Also replacing just the pickups won't be as good as a gibson also it will not play as well =/ This is still a kick ass guitar. GLWS man Also seeing the other posts I agree with Gibson being very Overpriced the sad reality being you paying for the name...

"Gary Moore would just not look the same with a Epi... Nor would Slash.." Nor would Michael Schumacher look great in any other car that a Ferrari even if it was a faster car...

The sad thing is slash and a few other people gave Gibson it's reputation and they didn't even play gibsons lol Slash's guitar he used to record Appetite for destruction was a custom copy of the gibson '59 lol.

Either way slap some SD's in there and tone wise you'll be set, this is really great value for money
