Ducky Keyboards - Are they really all that?

Well for me that Roccat looks sick. It is Imo the best looking keyboard out there with the best lighting. Only negative thing I'm seeing is the wrist rest. The Huntsman is beautiful as well but 1300 bucks more? You could buy a decent mouse with the change lol. I dunno those titan switches are super unique and I just love them.

This is what I'm thinking as well. It looks the business and I'm keen to mess around with the Titan switches. The Ducky will still be my main fix though. Anyway, I've put my K95 up for sale (as a feeler for now but will most likely ask the mods to convert it to a sale later) but I might buy the Vulcan in the meanwhile.

So tempting but I remember from the K30 I had that I really don't like Macros next to the final row of keys. Plus I'm already getting a new (potentially crap) KB.

So this arrived Friday...

An excellent quality keyboard.

You really don't need the RGB and that's the only major difference in the One Plus Two range.

This is true.

Looking to join the hoareds...I mean hoards?
What do you mean by this? Build quality on these are far above your Corsairs, Razers, Logitechs, etc. So I'm not sure what you are implying?

He's talking about RGB not the brand

I’m implying that everyone who hated on Ducky is now turning into a convert...except for MasterBlaster.

Some say MasterBlaster is a LowKey Ducky fanboy but wants all the boards for himself!

Why on earth would I want to hoard the same keyboard 30 times? Because Duckys are all the same. Once you've had one you've had one you've had all of them ever.

Eh I'm semi planning to get one myself just to either shut everyone else up or myself.

Busy replacing my Yama because I noticed signs of wear and tear and I had just had to try optical switches so I'm getting a Gamdias P2 Brown. If I don't like that I thought I'd try a Ducky.

Not sure which though. Seeing as they're all about aesthetics I still like the Skyline even though it doesn't match my other gear so much. But I'm not sure whether I'll like the green switch. Maybe better to get a shine or a red or brown RGB.

And then once I've proven I don't like that I wanted to get a Redragon Vata.

But now ASUS have changed it up with their new TUF K7 which I kinda want so maybe I'll get that after the Gamdias.

Or maybe I should try importing a Bloody B945 throught Scott.

Sigh. Decisions decisions.

Did you ever get the Vulcan @Ninja_Theory ?

Just yanking your chain bud! :p

Looking forward to see what you have to say about the other keyboards mentioned.(y)

Hi Guys,
Just ran across this and not sure if it has been mentioned but would like to find out if there is anywhere else in SA other than Rebletech that I can get my hand on a ducky? Nothing against them at all, just don't have what I am looking for at the moment. Stock is supposed to arrive in a month but can't tell me what is arriving :)

Why Ruin the surprise?

No one else stocks them. It’s like Super Flower and Wootware. Also, Rebeltech are the only importers of liquid metal.

As far as I can tell, it’s a direct legal import rather than going through a distributor. You take on more risk but you can enjoy better profits.

I suppose I could wait, was hoping to get one as soon as possible as I need to replace my current keyboard. Not a train smash though.
Will see what they bring in. Would prefer to support the local guys before going for import.

Thanks for the info.

Will pick up the Vulcan when my K95 is sold. My want for it is pretty much driven by its aesthetics, so I'm not in a rush as my Ducky is my daily driver.

Well if you came back online you will see that your K95 is sold and you can get your Vulcan . Anyone mates with him ?
Give him the good news and to check his inbox :)

Working and monitoring the forum in-between. Message received  Whatsapp incoming (and Vulcan incoming for me).

I so want to dive in and join the discussion... But I am not interested in reading the last ~12pages or so of bickering.

I just want to mention that ducky/das keyboard/wasd/etc is better than anything Redragon has to offer. Hands down. Just like cherry mx switches are far superior to otemu, no matter the plate, caps or board. K thanks bye.

Waiting for Rebel Tech to get a specific keyboard ... In the meantime I've been looking around, I am very very temped by the Anne Pro 2 (60% Keyboard) but I've got 2 concerns. 1st, where the heck do you buy them and 2nd, will I be wasting my money instead of just being patient and waiting for Ducky One 2 Mini (60% Keyboard)?

You'd have to look at Aliexpress or Banggood.

It's a bit hard to test my new P2 Optical Brown keyboard without internet, locking me out of most games and preventing me from putting it through it's paces with a usual round of post-whoring here.

And not having access to the manual or software limits what I can do even more.

So basically I am currently limited to giving the most basic of initial impressions.
And that impression is favourable.

Let's perhaps get the negatives out of the way first.
Unlike the Redragon Yama this doesn't feel like getting a 3K keyboard for half that money. It definitely does feel cheaper.
It's especially apparent with LEDs where long keys like Shift are only half illuminated.
And how the wrist rest is non-removable (probably the keyboard's biggest minus).
The sillyness of also printing WASD on the arrow key cluster (although a different key-cap to the actual WASD keys).
And the only thing in the box besides the keyboard was a keypuller.
The top of the keyboard juts out towards the bottom, an interesting aesthetic choice but one that may trouble some desks.

Now on to the more favourable:
It has a volume roller (a BIG plus for me).
Whilst non-removable the wrist rest isn't sized or positioned in such a way that I mind having it on there permanently. It's just a piece of completely untextured plastic but seems comfortable enough.
I'm not sure whether it's spill-proof but it follows a spill-proof design aesthetic. Instead of the brushed metal you get on many premium boards these days the surface is instead a matte rough gray and I really like it. Very different to everything else out there and goes very well with my gray Roccat Kone Aimo mouse.
The USB cable has TWO Velcro cable ties on it. Haven't seen that on anything else.
The font used on the keycaps is pretty good, not a little offputting like on the Redragon (and some Corsairs)
The keyboard feet come out with a violent clack but they are big and just about the best I've seen on a keyboard, at least among my very limited sampling of boards.
The keyboard is really solid and planted. It will not budge, it will not flex. (maybe because with the wrist-rest it has a larger than usual footprint)

And the switches, oh my freaking word, the switches, are absolutely divine. I'm not a fan of clicky switches, the only thing that should click is my mouse, not my keyboard. So I chose the brown version of the optical switches and I love them. Here the keyboard does not remotely feel cheap, it feels like pure quality, especially in combination with that planted feeling. They're smooth and fast, faster even than the animation in the few games I could test actually registers and completes. Typing on them is a dream. And they're quiet, quieter even than I'd say most membrane keyboards are. Pretty sure my WPM on this would be higher than the Yama. Optical is definitely the future, I'm done with standard mechanical aside from maybe trying a Ducky to find out what the fuss is. Only optical/opto-mechanical for me from now on.

Whether it'll last? Eh. Who knows. I doubt the LEDs will and I'm sure the caps will wear like usual but the rest of the keyboard isn't giving me any indication I'll need to part with it anytime soon.

Bottom line is I don't think you can do better than it under 1K. And even climbing to 2K it's still good enough to feature.

And how well the software works and what additional surprise functions might be found on the keyboard I unfortunately can't answer yet.
