Ducky Keyboards - Are they really all that?

I got two or my ducky keyboards on Tuesday.

Must say rebeltech & wootware both on the ball with my orders and I got them quick.

I got some nice sweeties from woot & key switch chain rings from rebel.

The ducky one pink mx reds & horizon one mx white.

I'm really enjoying the mx white compared to my mx blacks. I'm a bit bummed about the mx Reds ill have to use them when I play csgo and see if i really don't like them.

I know with my K70 I didn't enjoy the Reds but liked the two tone of the pink and white of the ducky xD I can always switch the keys onto my other ducky board.

So far first impressions

Pro's :

- removable USB type c cable

- the keyboard dust cover is cool

-Calculator volume buttons are something I missed on my other keyboards (there are a lot of keyboards with macro's and above but I'm mainly talking about ones without macro's don't tend to have those extra four keys above the numpad that I have had in the past.

- The colour of the keyboards is just too much makes we want to frame it xD

- Packaging was decent

Con's :

- No back light/rgb (It's bottom of the range one so no surprises there and it doesn't bother me)

- the mx whites are a well known problematic mx cherry key from my reading where some are more clicky than others for some odd reason. Mine seems to have this but haven't tested it 100% as I wanted to just test the board out before getting nitty gritty.

-pbt keys honestly I haven't noticed much difference compared to my steelseries 6gV2 mech kboard keys. I will try out my old keyboard this weekend to just see if I missed something but so far no difference on that part.

Which cherry are you using in your Ducky one and how are you finding it?

Browns, purely because of how quiet they are compared to other switches.
I love my Ducky one 2 RGB, the temptation to get that TKL is strong though.

This thread convinced me to get a Ducky keyboard haha, so I bought the One 2 Mini RGB, I'll give my feedback in a few days :D

PBT keys are much more durable than normal ABS plastic keys and will not lose their texture like some ABS keys that turn shiny.

I know about that but apart from that i havent felt much difference.

Sigh. Couldn't you have sat on it for a few months still? I'm not ready to already get another keyboard.

When are they going to invent internet in Durban?

When they figure out how to disconnect the 220v from the phone line in my street (which has mysteriously turned into cable theft since then despite no absence of cables)
I have a sneaking suspicion the cables may have actually fused below ground after a lightning strike something which I fear they may never find.

Aaaah. Telkom. Gl with that.

What are your thoughts on the Cooler Master MK850?

Thoughts are I want one, badly. It may just be the perfect keyboard for me.
Additionally for the first time ever I will be able to tie up most of my gear under the same brand.
I have both a Swift-RX and MP-510 mousepad, I just got the MM830 mouse (haven't tried it out yet though). Then this keyboard and later I may also decide to grab the MH752 headset. Plus my case is an old CM.

K so moved on from the Gamdias P2.
I know now that MX Browns or equivalents are my favourite switches. If I ever do get a Ducky it will definitely be one with MX Browns, getting the Skyline would have been a mistake.

And I also know now that the MK850 does effectively come with a dust cover.

Did you get a CM MK850?

Did you get a CM MK850?

Yep. Still super early days though. Just had 3-4 hours with it and not much playtime.

Can't say too much yet except the initial impression was less favourable than I hoped.
There is plenty to love though so that may well change.

And the Aimpad isn't just analog functionality as I thought. It's a full-on controller emulator tying up the side macro keys always. (they're actually different emulation settings for the Aimpad section)

So much want! Not sure how to get my hands on one though, aside from maybe pointing Scotts Shipping at Newegg...
I've already asked Rebeltech but they can't get it for me.

Any clever ways of getting one into the country?

So I made good on my threat of a getting a Ducky.

And they really aren't all that, especially not the typeface.

Any thoughts on the Steelseries Apex Pro keyboard?

They looked really cool initially but I'm not so sure being able to control sensitivity like that is a worthy enough gimmick. If you could control more than just the actuation point, maybe, but I don't think that's enough a game changer though it is interesting to see someone try it. And whilst the media wheel and screen is cool it doesn't exactly add any functionality.

After months with my Vulcan (which I love), I managed to use my old Ducky for a bit again. I can only perform such feats when my son is sleeping, as he refuses to give my his Ducky back. Damn these Duckys are nice...

Cool. Get another and then plz pass me your Vulcan.

I couldn’t leave my Ducky behind, so I took it to the UK.

I was just overweight so they let me on. NOw all I have to do Is get the UK caps.

Because my laptop has a UK key layout and I keep having to switch between the two on the fly.
Ah ok.

Plus, if I’m gonna work here, I’ll have to get used to the new layout.
I guess so. UK layout is terrible. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it as you say...
