Hi there,


The company I work for is currently looking for a desktop support technician, with the position being available immediately so training can start before the existing employee exits at the end of April. You will be responsible for serving the main company and sister companies who are all geographically connected. Our offices are based in Johannesburg, in Ophirton. Currently, a total of under 300 users are serviced. Salary is dependent on experience and skills.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience in similar role

  • Good understanding of computers

  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to build rapport with end users

  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills

  • Overtime may be required, but frequency is very limited

  • Be flexible in your approach to troubleshooting and resolution

  • Due to unforeseen issues, travelling to the office after hours may be required, so candidate must have their own, reliable transport or access to transport outside of business hours


Responsibilities:


  • Receive, accept and action requests for assistance via ticketing system or email

  • Troubleshoot user issues to resolution

  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and log service calls with relevant service centres

  • Motivate for and order new equipment

  • Configure new computer equipment for assignment to end users

  • Configure printers with relevant settings and add to print server

  • UPS testing and battery replacement (Desktop UPSs only)

  • Updating computer software as needed

  • Assisting with relevant telephone systems and company owned cell phones

  • Control items coming in and out of asset systems

  • Assist in-house security with IP based security systems when required

  • Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, DHCP, DNS and networking beneficial but not crucial

  • Experience with Mikrotik and Ubiquiti products beneficial but not a requirement
