DELID / RELID service for IVY/Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake/Kaby Lake/Coffee Lake.

JollyJamma assisted me with a delid tonight. At 20% load my temps drop by over 20 degrees.
Once everything has settled nicely I'll really push it with an OC & Prime95.

Thanks for the assist JJ.

Re: DELID / Re-paste service for IVY/Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake. (gageing interes

I'm interested.

@jollyJamme & KakHard , would it be worth it to delid my 2700K? Mainhly looking to get lowest temps so I can try get as close to 5Ghz as possible. Got 4.8 on a ROG mobo with a 2500k & 2600k before, but using a Msi Z77Mpower now. Will be adding a Noctua D14 & CoolerMastrer MasterGel (11.5 w/mk AFAIR)..

Sandy Bridge is soldered.

Sandy Bridge is soldered.

I know its soldered. I clearly was only thinking about them Mhz... Am I right in assuming that attempting to delid SB would rip the die to shit 99% of the time?

It can be done, but there is no point in doing it. Soldered is basically the best contact you could have to the IHS.

Maybe lap your IHS if you really want to try drop some temps. :tongue-new:

Not really. Add the coolers and you'll see it'll make a huge difference. Soldered is great and there's little benefit to delidding a soldered CPU.

Edit: I just got some Grizzly liquid metal and a Deepcool Gammax 400 cooler to play with this weekend

What is the policy if something does go wrong? I am hesitant on this as reading through Intel's warranty tampering with the CPU is a complete warranty void and claiming a replacement for this tends to be akin to fraud.

If something goes wrong do you have yourself a 7 grand table coaster?

Your warranty is void and if you damage the CPU, you cry to yourself. I have yet to damage a CPU using the Delid mate and that includes Kabylake, Ivy Bridge and so on.
So far the toughest CPU I have ever had to delid was a 6600K but it was still fine afterwards, it just wasn't a pretty delid. It was the CPU for Mr. E. The stupid silicone tube popped and all the silicone came out. Just a mess.

The days of people using razer blades to open their CPU up are over - it's too dangerous.

Yip, warranty is void.

I have done three new 7700K's and some 6700K's. So people either don't mind the "risk/warranty void" or, like me, are just fed up with these crap temps.

But, as with anything PC related, there are no guarantees when cracking open a CPU I guess.
The older CPU's tend to sound the "loudest" when delidding (3770K, 4790K etc.) but that might just be because the old TIM has turned so hard over time.

I've decided to wait for Icelake 9th gen 10nm+ processors and just OC my devils canyon for a nice boost for the next year.

My 4790k runs kak-hot on 1.2v with y-cruncher 1b (I 1st tried 1.3v and stopped it in the 1st few seconds), 1 core always stays above 95 and then I have two middle cores at the mid 80s and 1 at mid 70s (this is the same all the way through, 1 hot core, two in the middle and 1 cool core). QuantumX gave a few tips with OCing and I got my 4790k fairly stable at 4.6ghz 1.196v (with a phanteks ph tc14).

I also OCed my 4690k and could hit a cinebench r15 on 1.4v 4.8ghz but that was insanely hot, I lowered everything down to a fairly stable 4.5ghz and 1.224v (with a cryorig h7).

x264 stress test max temps varies from high 50s to low 70s. PUBG max temps runs at low 50s to low 60s.

My ram runs at 1600mhz on both machines. I will try and OC the ram when I'm for certain the current OCs is stable enough.

I want to delid these bad boys and try to get as close to a 5ghz 24/7 OC as possible. 4.8ghz would be great already.

So I put liquid metal on my PCB and a Gammaxx 400 on top. Idles at ~25 and max temps are 43. Compare this to the Intel cooler with a delid and we are looking at 43 idle and 105max.

How can Intel sell such shit coolers!?

I had to mount my Gammaxx facing my GPU as it wouldn't fit my Mitx mobo otherwise but that works well actually, sucks in cold air from the side and pushes Luke warm air against the GPU.

Bang for cheap buck, can't fault the Gammaxx 400.

@KakHard
@toy1985

Kakhard is near(ish) Stellenbosch and can help. I don't know anyone closer to Stellenbosch. It'll make a big difference, especially with an unlocked CPU like yours.

KakHard, Hey man interested in getting this done on my 4690k - see you're based in strand and I will be coming past that way possibly next week on my way to Hermanus. What times are you available for drop off/collection? Do you prefer loose CPU's or is it better for me to bring my entire PC so that you can test anything you need to? Thanks in advance!

Testing is best with the whole PC, as I do not have a Devil's Canyon test setup.
But I can do only the CPU if that is what you want. I'm happier when I can at least see the end-result myself. ;)

I'll PM you my number to check on best times/dates etc.

Hi im situated in eatcourt, kzn. Will you be passing by any time? I would love to have my 7700k delidded

Lol OTC. Hou jou bêk brêh. :p
Cancerous718
I'm unfortunately not going to be in KZN very soon. Haha. Only been there once in my life.

Maybe someone else that might read this thread can help you out in KZN area.

I don't use glue.

Silicone sealer is just fine and most of the time it looks like the original Intel type.
