Hi guys.

So I had a chat with Fire, and he said I can go ahead and try out a DELIDDING service for CARB.

I have done a couple of IVY / HASWELL / Devil's Canyon delids and they have gone without a hitch.
You get some nice temperature drops by doing this.
Anything from 5C to 20C can be expected by replacing the crappy INTEL TIM with some better stuff.

I will be able to do the proper RELID with silicone as well in a week or two when my RELID kit arrives. (If SAPO doesn't merge it into the economy before then)

The delid process is pretty easy and "safe" but with everything I guess, it will still be at your own risk.

Here is an example of a delid that I did :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS5bSDGJuiw

"Delid only" will start from R50 per CPU.
The full monty (Delid/Clean PCB & Die/Repaste with good TIM or Liquid Metal) pricing I will confirm when I have some rough numbers.

I only have a socket 1155 test bench at the moment but if there is enough interest I will buy the necessary MB's to do before and after temp tests at extra cost.

So please post away/PM if there is any interest.
Please state your name and Processor model and preferably a whatsapp number or e-mail when you PM me.
I will compile a list of names/numbers and see where we are at.

P.S. My KABYLAKE capable DELID tool arrives with the RELID tool. So if anyone is crazy enough to void his warranty already, I can help with that as well. Haha

cool! just watch out for those 3d printed tools, i would suggest when you need to replace that one get the der8auer delid die mate. or drop me a message. i have the version two on the way and might be interested in selling my version one.

for thermal paste Thermal grizzly is available local from Rebel tech or drop me a PM they have a liquid metal paste as well.

good luck and let me know if you need any help

Re: DELID / Re-paste service for IVY/Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake. (gageing interes

The delid tool was printed at 60% infill.
No issues yet. But yes, my proper tool is on it's way. Thanks for the offer though.

Already have the Grizzly liquid metal as well. ;)

On Skylake...interested...subscribed

Sweet!
Might be keen to do both my Haswell chips.

I will be getting a delidders for Ivybridge and Kaby Lake hopefully next week.
Should be able to help the guys in jhb to do it.

I might be interested, in the Somerset West(side yO). First have to establish whether I am keeping my Haswell or going Ryzen.

Re: DELID / Re-paste service for IVY/Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake. (gageing interes

I will definitely be interested in

The full monty

for my 4770k Haswell CPU.

I'll keep my eye on the thread for when you have a solid pricing :)

Ant_Shrew - My suggestion would be to ask permission for this from admin and make your own thread - reason being KakHard specifically asked Firestrm_ZA for permission, due to the fact that, should this take off a reseller sub would be required.

Sorry did not know. Not here to make money just wanting to try help the community.

Interested! Have a few friends with Ivy-Bridge setups that run extremely hot.

KakHard Yeah, you'll need a resellers sub if you want to do this permanantly.

I've ordered by Delid Mate V2 and will have it in July. I don't like the idea of using 3D printed items. Nothing against them, it's just that I've spent nearly R1000 to get a safe way of Delidding a CPU so I'd rather use that over a non tried and tested properly tool.

Lol? I know I'd need a sub, that is what this exercise is about . Wasn't the question at all.

Concerning the tool, my current one works fine as it was printed at 2x the minimum spec and proven thus far, but you are welcome to your own opinion.

Also, do not fear, as mentioned, a "proper" tool is on its way already. ;)

If anybody would be willing, would you do this for the upcoming Ryzen AM4 socket? :p

Not me. Lol

Seems that AMD already use the best TIM anyway.
So you won't see any benefit.
But maybe someone else is crazy enough.

"It looks like AMD's AM4 CPUs will be using a high-quality thermal interface material, which means that mainstream users will likely see no benefit from de-lidding their CPUs. " :

That is actually great news, thanks for the read :)

Just waiting on USPS / SAPO.

It would be pointless to offer "relid" without the kit.

So currently I can delid and re-paste. But not re-seal with silicone.
This can be done without the tool, but it might not be on the precise spot it should be.

So anyone wanting a delid and then fit it back on your MB without sealing the IHS, PM me.

Currently only had about 8 guys send through requests with contact details.

Pricing will be as follows :

Delid only - R50 (you clean it off, re-paste yourself etc)
Delid/Clean PCB & Die - R150 (Give it back to you in two pieces)
Delid/Clean PCB & Die/ Re-paste with TIM - R200 (Re-fit on your board)
Delid/Clean PCB & Die/ Re-paste with Grizzly Liquid Metal - R250 (Re-fit on your board)

Once re-lid kit arrives :

Delid/Clean PCB & Die/ Re-paste with TIM/Silicone IHS back - R250 (Silicone has to set overnight)
Delid/Clean PCB & Die/ Re-paste with Grizzly Liquid Metal/Silicone IHS back - R300 (Silicone has to set overnight)

If you supply your own TIM for the die you can deduct R50 off the price.

Temperature testing for before/after currently only for IVYBRIDGE, unless you drop off your system as well - R100.

Just an update.

Spoke to a gentleman at Cape Mail / Customs.
There seems to be a huge backlog of packages they are working through...so I'm just going to have to wait it out. :(

Currently I can do De-lids for IVY/Haswell/Devil's Canyon/Skylake but no "re-lids" with a proper tool.
I'll let you guys know once it arrives.

Re-lid kits have arrived. I will test on my 3770k a few times this week.
So should be good to go by next week. :)

Relidding went without a hitch.

Here is the end result :

Looks the same. Lol.

I'm keen, could you let me know cost, and time needed to do the job? And where you are situated?

So what were the temprature differences that you got on your 3770k after ther re-lidding?

Difficult to say Rabaski.

I changed from Coollabs Liquid Metal Pro to the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut.
It was running on my little test-rig as well, so not with the Corsair H110i GT I had it under previously.

Intel Burn Test hit about 71C with a RAIJINTEK AIDOS which is a little R300 cooler. (Stock speeds and volts)
About the same I got before re-lidding with that cooler.

So all in all I think it wouldn't have made a huge diff.
But I'd rather have a CPU that I wouldn't have to re-paste after every major MB change or CPU swop-out than worry about 1 or 2 degrees celsius.
With the clamping of the heatspreader overnight I think it definitely would press the silicone sealer lower than Intel usually got with their manufacturing process.
Also, if you ever want to resell your CPU it would be easier to do so.

Maybe read some reviews and opinions online as well and let us know? :)

So I decided to delid and relid my 7700k yesterday with some Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut... (warranty WUT?) :p

Cooling : Corsair H110i GT, standard fans

4.8Ghz, 1.28V, 21C ambient, stock CPU :

I'll take that 27C max temp drop any day. ;)
