Bump. I forgot this is still here, but I'm stull building. If @KURT_COCAIN wouldn't mind posting the picture of his new desk here, I'd really appreciate it as well.

I'm taking less jobs at a time now to increase my turnaround and to avoid disappointment. His I believe was done start to finish in under 3 weeks (including ordering his odd-sized top), so that was quite nice.

The prices I quoted in December is also gone up a little bit. It's gotten to the point where I simply can't work for cheap anymore, otherwise I can just as well spend my time consulting or contracting to companies and earning money that way.

Hit me up, I've got an open slot for a build right now!

I have to add my 2 cents. I love the work that I am seeing here, but don't have the budget for anything right now.
All the best with the building...

My huge @Toxxyc desk, weighing just under 85kg at 2600 X 900mm! But its built like a tank, will probably be regarded as a fixture when selling my house. It really came out better than what I anticipated.

It really was a pleasure dealing with @Toxxyc , the dude doesnt fuck about. The desk was completed a week before the quoted date.

There was a few nice surprises, fully extendable slides with anti slam. This wasnt asked for and must have been more exspensive than regular slides.

I did ask for a cable tray and got a industrial one

Beautiful and it is braced on the back with that cable tray

It'll definitely depend on what you want to have done, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do that, yes. Hit me up in PMs with what you want/need?

And working on some quotes for others as well.

Delivered, and customer is happy:

OK I worked on a quote for one of these tables, and I want to give the Carbonite members here an opportunity. I found an uncle with plenty of good quality sleeper boards. They're typically around 25mm thick, like the ones in this picture.

The boards aren't dirt cheap, but they're also not badly priced at all. As a result, I can build tables like the one in this picture for around R10k a piece. It dilutes my profit quite a bit, considering there's more hours going into it than I'd like to admit, but in that same breath it's also still worth it for me, as most of the work is the "lekker" kind (sanding, finishing).

As such, I'd like to offer these tables to Carbonite members at R10k a piece. I can build them differently as well, they don't have to be patio tables only. Think dining room tables, or braai room tables with benches (also made with the same sleeper boards), office desks, etc. etc.

The reason is twofold:

1. I am craving building a desk like that again. I loved every second of it, and as such, I'm willing to cut my profit essentially in half for these builds.
2. Things are tight and I could use the extra income. I'd like to get this business off the ground again, and I'm hoping these will sell well, since they are stunning to look at.

So, if you're interested, let me know!

Bump, to the top, up above for all to seeeeeee!

Alrighty. I re-did the first post so there are pictures for all to see. This thread has come a long way and it's time to let it grow. I'm now going to try and make this a legit side business. I believe I have the creativity and mindset for it, I just need the interest.

So this is also a bump!

To the top! Hopefully something comes in, I'm itching for a build!

Looks pretty sweet on your desk, mate. Thanks for the pic, and I hope it brings you many happy years.

I'll be honest, after having it on my desktop here while I took pics of it, I realized I'm missing a headset stand. My headset hangs on a hook on the side of the desk, but it looks much nicer on top. I think I'm going to build myself one as well.

So if anyone wants a headset stand like that, hit me up. Much easier to build a few at a time than one by one.

And with that, a bump to the top. PS: In case you guys haven't seen, I've re-done the first post in this thread with my journey so far, and what I hope to do in the near future. I really want this business to kick off, so if you have family/friends/colleagues/whatever who's looking for tables or desks, or anything else I build, please let me know and give me the chance to do a quote!

EDIT: And I'll be honest, I'm asking because things are going a bit tough in the Toxx household. Expenses is soaring (as we all know) and I've not managed to get back up on my feet properly after the retrenchment last year. My new salary is waaaaay under what I earned before, and after adjusting to the new income and committing to things, it's not easy. I'm not trying to sob-story anyone, I'm purely asking for the opportunity to make some money on the side by working for it. Honest work for honest pay.

Bump. Still hoping for some builds, guys!

To the top on this fine Saturday!
