Hey guys, so due to life and finances and everything else, I'm no longer getting around to brewing. This isn't just due to finances, or just due to time, or just due to kids, but it's a combination of all of it, and more. I'm not getting time for brewing, and with the kids running around it's not very safe to do so either. To boot, I need to money and the space, and because I haven't brewed more than one batch of beer in the past year, I simply can't justify keeping all of this. So here we go, I'm selling everything and taking a hiatus.
All of this is broken down into three big parts - the brewing setup, the kegging/serving setup and finally the distilling setup. A rough breakdown of the parts of each is listed below, along with a price for each setup. Please note that these lists are not complete. There are more stuff than listed here and I've forgotten a bunch of the smaller stuff that I'll also include with the sale. So if you've ever wanted to try your hand at homebrewing, and you want to buy a complete, and I mean COMPLETE setup, this is it. This is a combination of years of building and acquiring and configuring to build myself the brewing setup I want - something that takes the perfect line between ease of use, cost and output. So here it is.
Brew-in-a-bag brewing setup: R6,000
1. 50l Logik Urn, with ball valve and bypassed element to not limit power.
2. 12V hot water pump for the mash. Wired to a power supply for it that plugs in apart from the rest of the urn. It screws into the ball valve, so can be removed easily.
3. Oversized BIAB bags (I think there's 2 or 3 of them) for the big urn. They take a lot of grain easily, and they're longer so you can easily tie them up and lift them with a rope. I think there's still a hop bag there as well but I don't use it anymore.
4. 5 x 25l buckets I used for storing grain, sparging, etc. etc. There's another one as well with a tap on it that I used for a while as a bottling bucket.
5. 1 x 10l bucket that I use for storing sanitizer and hoses and stuff so they're always ready for use.
6. Several meters of silicone hose. Not PVC, not thin-walled. This is thick silicone hose that does not collapse with heat. Perfect for no-chill brewing and moving boiling liquid. The large bore also makes it easy to clean and sanitize. Some is heavily used and stained (but still works great) and some is brand new. This sold for around R300 per meter when I bought this.
7. 1 x Copper Tun fermenter, the classic drum one with the big lid. It fell over at one stage when I used it for drinking water and the lid cracked, but I glued it up and it still works fine.
8. 1 x Speidel 30l fermenter, including the tap, bung and very nice airlock as optional extra. In great condition and I love this fermenter. If I have to buy fermenters again, it'll be these.
9. 1 x Hydrometer with 2 x 100ml glass test tubes for it.
10. 1 x Analog thermometer which is VERY accurate.
11. 1 x No-chill cube, I think it's 20l, plain white/clear food grade plastic. Works great. Also a cap spanner here or there that helps with tightening/loosening the lids.
12. 1 x Red twin lever capper (the nice plastic one).
13. Bottles in crates, bottles not in crates. There are 750ml ones, Grolsch swingtops and some regular craft beer bottles, mostly 440ml but also a few 330ml and 250ml ones for small bottlings.
14. Kelvinator fridge. It's a 2-door fridge, with one door at the bottom and one at the top (not side by side). The inside is one big opening and not "parted" in any way, apart from the hump at the bottom for the compressor. It easily takes 2 x corny kegs and easily takes the fat Speidel fermenter, with airlock on top, with space for a rack at the top. The temp controller on this konked out so it's no longer on there. I used it as a temp controlled fermenting/lagering chamber and it works amazingly well.
15. Mash paddle/spoon (long one).
16. Grain mill. This is a grain mill made by Ginormity, and it's a gear-drive test model he built and eventually gave to me to use in my business. I'm not selling this, it's going along with the rest of the stuff to someone who can use it, because I got it for free and don't want to sell it along at this stage.
17. 1 x Big aluminium pot you can use for whatever. I sometimes mashed in it in the oven for small batches and it worked well.
18. Loose stuff. This includes airlocks, chemicals, everything that's here. If it's here, I'm adding it to the deal.

Kegging/serving setup: R10,000
1 x Older Kelvinator chest freezer, old but it works perfectly fine
1 x Collar, extra high for extra internal storage, with STC-1000 mounted. Holds 3 corny kegs easy, perhaps even 4 (haven't tested yet)
2 x Flow control taps (chrome), with shafts and JG fittings
1 x Party tap with flexible beer line (2m in length)
4 x Pin lock corny kegs, 3 of them with new seals and working perfectly, the other one I haven't tested yet
1 x MicroMatic Primary regulator, main gauge bent slightly so you have to pull/tap it to read the tank pressure. The dial to measure the keg pressure works fine
2 x 2kg CO2 tanks, with turn valves. One is full, the other is between half and full, I'd guess
Hoses, splitters, disconnects, valves and stuff I have here for kegs and kegging
Pictures: Kegging Pictures – Google Drive
Distilling setup: R7,500
1 x 50l keg still, with SS legs welded to the body. Also includes a 1" barrel nipple welded to the front where there's a 3-piece, 1" SS ball valve fitted.
1 x Standard SA geyser element, screwed into a threaded ferrule welded to the back of the still. Elements are very easy and very cheap to replace. Currently has a 3,500W element fitted.
1m long, 2" diameter copper column, fixed to the still with SS triclamps (included). The top of the still has a proper 2" SS ferrule welded in place, it's no longer the factory fitting that only works "so-so".
1" Lyne arm, on a swiveling connector at the top of the still so you can position it where you want.
15m long, 15mm diameter copper coil for cooling, in a bucket. Bucket leaks, this needs some attention but works fine for me as I run the still outside.
Also included here I have an alcohol hydrometer set, glassware, some oak for aging, molasses and spices I used to make my silver medal spiced rum, some charcoal powder, chemicals, etc. etc. and everything else I also used.

With the above I've made a few VERY good beers, as well as very decent rum that makes a fantastic gift. I'll share my recipe and method as well as where I get whatever I need with the buyer as well so he/she can hit the ground running.
It's with a heavy heart I'm selling all this, but I have no choice at this stage. I'm not desperate, but it does need to go, so I'm also open to offers. The R20k combo price is a fair amount under the market value and way less than you'd pay for all this if you'd have to go buy it all new. New, this is probably a R60k setup, if I'd have to guess, so hit me up!
