Hi mates,

I'm considering downgrading from my Coolermaster Cosmos II to something much smaller....

I currently have an Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z in it and about 7 drives in it of only which i use four on a regular...

Would prefer keeping the mobo, but i'm open to a downgrade to a smaller form factor mobo if need be...

I'm looking for something recent and smaller but with great looks and a windowed side panel, that will also be able to fit one of the smaller corsair liquid coolers and at least 3/4 normal drives... Or is there another option for my many drives?

PSU is a 1000W Coolermaster Silent PRO Gold which I wouldn't mind downgrading too to something less powerful that would fit in the case...

GPU is currently an HD7450, so no worries there for now...

What options are out there for my needs?

Not really, as i could always sell what i have in order to get wat i need...

I've always been a fan of the CoolerMaster HAF range. Good build quality, airflow and appearance. Have a look at the windowed HAF XM, and if that's still too big, the HAF 912 Advanced. Both have black interiors and USB 3.0 ports and 200mm red LED fans at the front.

watch out, the HAF stones will start to fly soon :p

a few that jump to mind: Corsair Air 540, Corsair 600T (of which is one or 2 now on forum), HAF XB, Corsair 500D

in terms of looks, would you lean more towards something like a Cosmos, or more towards something like the 750D?

I'd say more towards the cosmos in terms of looks....

the air 540 aint bad at all, but will it take 4 x 3.5" drives or is it really limited to two?

When you say something much smaller... Are you considering M-atx cases as well? The Corsair 350D is awesome, I just happen to have a windowed one...:p

yeah, that was one quite disappointing factor of it, but then again I personally have just 1 storage drive

well then HAF series would work for you, or something along lines of the Trooper or the Stryker

lol Hobo you salesman you :D

well he does say he can change form factor, but would 1st like to look at ones for current mobo

Corsair 200R or 300R (if you can find stock), Awesoem build quality, big enough on the inside and dirt cheap. Nothing better in the price range.

ha ha ha ha, Hobo Joe, nice try buddy...

OTC, the HAF aint good looking as the Corsairs, used to own a HAF X and i think i'm done with that series...

The Air540 would mean i"ll have to get 2.5" drives for storage if i wanna have more than 2 drives in it or couple the others as external drives wen i need to use the data on them...

The Air would be perfect size wise i believe....

@ Jack B, will have a look at those too...thanks

ah, Jackie read my mind... I didn't mean 500D, was 500R

yeah, or go ghetto mount them on the mobo tray on the back :)

could also always look at something like this, if nothing in your 5.25 bays:
Icy Dock MB973SP-1B 3x3.5" SATA HDD Rack (3x 3.5" HDD, 2x 5.25")

sucks when you have something you like, but to change you have to sacrifice something :(

I rate the 500R as the 300R and 200R might just have a few corners cut that might not sit well with your premium tendencies...having a Cosmos 2 and all :p

Either that or the CM 693.
