Bulldozer

Release is the 12th of October, so not sure what timeline they basing the 12th on but tomorrow will definately be a very exciting day for processors and AMD!! Been following this for a while, and been a very interesting journey thus far with all the leaks, fakes, speculation etc. especially with the "preview" from Lab501

This is the link to the preview, but not sure if site is down or what the problem with it is...

I'm really excited about the BD release. It can only be a positive thing for us, the consumers. Personally, if BD has performance close enough to the 2500K and 2600K, I'll be there like a friggin' bear. One thing you have to love about AMD is their tendency to not screw their buyers. Point of fact, you can overclock any of the BD CPUs on any AM3+ motherboard, from R800 to R3000. What is more, if you don't have the cash to do a complete upgrade, you can buy an AM3+ motherboard now and still use your old AM3 processor! Just that makes going the BD route easier, and most probably cheaper, than going for SB.

I'm hoping to see some 4.5GHz+ 24/7 air overclocks. That would make me a very happy camper!

It looks like 5Ghz+ should be attainable

P.S this image is just for reference to speed, not so sure about that pi score...

Dont get your hopes up....

who knows, if this chip impress me I might even switch over again.

That is of course if SB-E does out perform it.

Oj, will be looking out for those reviews.

Hmmm, depending on how good it really is there MIGHT be a 5694.46/58x 2600K up for sale tomorrow at 6 then if anyone wants it..

Bulldozer was said to be slow in Pi.

You know what would be ironic? If you needed to do a BIOS update before the chip would work :p

I know there's no chance of that, I'm just saying ;)

Doubt it :D

Asus Crosshair 5 waiting for that FX8150

Finally a hint at when it will be released? Only problem is that if it's released now it's still going to be frikkin expensive as opposed if it were six months ago. Will have to wait till next year to get it :(

Yup. All the people saying how EPIC it was going to be etc etc...where are you all now? LOL! Hence why you always wait for CONFIRMED benchmarks from a retail product.

Completely underwhelming.

If you bothered reading the whole review and all the benches you would see its pretty much on par with a 2600k, with the 2600k winning some and the fx8150 winning some, not to mention the price which is also quite a lot cheaper than the 2600k.

hopes 4 or 6 core can unlock to a 8 core , then i will get one :p

Ori , VSEK :p

Still, sandy has been around for quite a while now. It is by far not enough just to be on par with the 2600k.

Should have been called fagdozer.

Bitterly disappointed, though sandy prices might go down a bit now which is a bonus.

But when Ivy bridge comes - we are going to pay through our teeth for it since AMD has failed to offer a decent cpu.

Maybe you forgot to add that it only really competes with the i7 2600k when it's overclocked to 4.6ghz?

What do you think would happen if they oc'ed the 2600k to 4.6ghz and ran a like for like comparison?

Underwhelmed IMHO, still a good upgrade if you are going from the Core 2 / Phenom series of cpu's as it's not all that much money. We'll have to see how much they cost when they come in though.

Only a 400Mhz OC....

Anyway whatever, Im buying it as soon as it lands in SA.
It'll still play anything on max and that's all I care about.
