Hi what do you guys think will have to be in a basic toolkit set for computer repairs/cleaning for a LAN network system (school lab) any suggestions where to get something like this website links would be appreciated

Thank You

Depends how extensive you want to be.

My personal toolkit consists of the following:

  • Various Philips screwdrivers, from very small (jeweler's screwdrivers for eg opening laptops) all the way up to chunky ones for case screws, etc. Magnetic tips are a must, electrical insulation is a plus
  • Various flat screwdrivers, a few very small ones that are useful for prying laptops or monitors apart, and one large one just because
  • Various small Torq and hex screwdrivers, especially useful when working on Apple products but they're occasionally seen elsewhere
  • Thermal paste, can never have enough
  • Multimeter
  • Three paintbrushes, from 25mm to 80mm, great for cleaning out dust
  • Soldering iron
  • Glue gun with extra glue sticks - other than fixing things, great for running network cable
  • Flash drive with Windows 10 AIO installation, DRP (a driver utility), and every small utility you could ever need, DirectX, C++ Redistributable, K-Lite Codec Pack, Skype, Java, WinRAR, benchmarks, etc, latest NVIDIA and AMD drivers - you name it
  • A small magnet - keep screws in one place when taking something apart
  • Screws - every kind you can think of for laptops and desktops alike
  • Brass motherboard standoffs
  • Cable ties in various sizes
  • Insulation tape
  • Duct tape
  • Pliers and side cutters
  • Crimping tool
  • About 50 RJ45 connectors
  • A small handful of network boots
  • Flashlight (very NB!!)
  • 2m network cable
  • 2m USB cable
  • Micro USB cable
  • Mini USB cable
  • SATA cables
  • SLI and CrossFire bridges
  • Hammer, for when all else fails

As above and the following:

· separate earth leakage point to precheck every extension/PC so one idiot does not trip all the power.
· couple of kettle cords
· vga/hdmi/dvi cable for the idiot that forgot
· mouse and keyboard for the other idiot

Would depend on what you're cleaning. Just pc's? Network cabinet? Switches and routers? For small equipment I get by with a leatherman, torq set, paint brushes, cable ties, micro fibre cloth, contact spray etc, I never had to buy a full kit. Getting a decent blower is also a good idea if you have lots of equipment to clean out, I always got by with cans of compressed air.
If you're repairing equipment then you may need to buy specific tools, a crimper for example since you doing a school lab which I assume has multiple wall boxes. Spare Ethernet cables, make a bunch of short ones to connect to the switch. Cable trunking.
It can be a long list depending on what exactly you need to do
