Hey all, I just got the above mentioned router from my dad who was using it for his ADSL at home before he got fiber about a month ago, the router was working 100% for him. I've set up a good couple of routers before without issue but for the life of me I can't get this thing to sync my line.
My old/current router is a TP-Link something that has no issue connecting to the internet, so I've mirrored all the settings necessary from that one to the Asus, yet it refuses to sync.
I have the settings as:
Modulation: Auto-sync up (But I've tried: ADSL2/G.DMT and others to no avail)
Annex: A (But also tried all the others)
Transfer mode: ADSL WAN(ATM)
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Service Category: UBR (Also tried CBR)
Obtain the WAN DNS is auto.
Obtain the LAN IP is auto.
(Although I've tried using IPs from the connected TP-Link)
NAT is on
PPPoe Username and password is correctly entered, even tried the Openweb guest account
And everything else is pretty much default.
The only noticeable setting that's different on the ASUS vs the TP-Link is the MTU, which is 1480 on the TP-Link and 1492 on the ASUS which are both defaults for themselves, although I don't think this can affect it?
Also if I plug my phone line into the TP-Link it syncs, change routers then nothing, so it's not the line at fault.
What I did notice though, is that my line takes quite a while to sync like 30 or so seconds on the TP-Link, it only syncs after like the 5th try, could it be possible that the TP-Link has a longer sync attempt time after a few failed tries? Where the ASUS tries to sync for a fixed 10 seconds or so? I'm not sure, but I did see that the TP-Link has an Echo interval setting which is 30 by default, I can't find any such setting on the ASUS, is that setting the Sync time?
If there's anyone who has set one of these up, or that has more router knowledge than me that can please help me or at least tell me where to look I will be super grateful
