For those that are having troubles with the game crashing to Desktop without any error, here is what I did to "fix" it. I've gone from crashing every 1-2 games during the week to playing for hours with a crash here and there. For reference, I have a i7 6700k overclocked to 4.5Ghz, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1080.
First, I turned some of my graphics settings down. My settings are maxed out (at 1920 x 1080 resolution) apart from the following:
- Texture streaming budget set to Very High (6GB)
- Ambient Occlusion Quality set to Disabled
- Spot Shadow Detail set to High
- Volumetric Lighting set to Disabled
Second, I deleted the temporary folders that Origin creates. Before doing the below, make sure to quit Origin and make sure nothing Origin related is running in the background (such as OriginWebHelperService).
- In Run (WinKey + R), type in %ProgramData%
- Open the Origin folder
- Delete everything apart from LocalContent
- In Run (WinKey + R), type %AppData%
- Delete the Origin folder in Roaming
- Go back one folder and go into Local
- Delete the Origin folder
- Open Origin and log back in
This might not work for everybody, but after trying a bunch of solutions this is what finally made the game playable for me.
EDIT: Forget to mention, I also installed NVIDIA 417.71 drivers (rolled back from latest).
