I am looking to get some lithium cells to build a DIY battery for my inverter. I came across 'Cell Supply SA' and I was wondering if anyone has bought from them before?

How do people keep finding the stuff? I'm genuinely curious how brand new, normally scam sites, get sniffed out so quickly. I think it'll take people longer to find Amazon after they arrive :p

OK, what I can tell you:

  • Website created less than a month ago
  • No physical address displayed on site
  • No contact number displayed on site
  • No registration number displayed on site
  • Refund policy is lackluster at best
  • As is the delivery policy
  • No social media
  • No reference to them online at all

Their registration number is POSSIBLY K2023664546, in which case:

Owned by Darius Botha and Tian Cloete, both 28 years old.
Based at 1271 Burnett Street, Hatfield, Pretoria
Registration went through today (15 November)

Quite possibly legit but breaking multiple acts due to the lack of information, a bit less likely the opposite is true (or it's not even the same company and just coincidence). Scammers don't generally register the business, but I have zero way of knowing whether I'm actually looking at the right company.

Something that I always find offputting is "we have quickly grown to become a leading supplier of lithium cells, known for our unwavering commitment to quality" - no you haven't, and no you aren't. You're brand new and OP of this thread is quite likely the first person ever to have visited your site.

If you proceed, pay by CREDIT card only.

How much do you think you will save with a diy pack. Building a 16s 105A bank is going to cost +22k. That ain’t cheap.

Using 280Ah, maybe you save a couple thousand but you also don’t have an enclosure and probably no warranty so for me it makes more sense to just buy a complete unit with local support.

You also don’t know the quality of cells, especially if you buy from a shop that just launched.

A few years ago, it made sense as prices were a lot cheaper, there weren’t as many clone cells and the savings were a lot if you build a big bank.

Just my 5 cents.
