Alternative options to zest T1

So I grabbed a Zest T1 through afrihost for my son. Been rather disappointed in it and ZestMobile, the internal storage problem makes it unusable and so I am going to try and return it. What I am looking for is advice on an option to replace it with.
He mainly uses data and that is why I went for the T1 as the dual sim option was a real draw card. So are there any dual sim android alternatives around the 2k mark (A rootable phone would be great) ?

My fallback option is to just grab a second hand Samsung S3 and the cheapest MTN contract I can find and add afrihost data onto that.

This is all assuming they will take it back.

Both should be rootable but the moto E maybe a bit easier(cheap phones tend to not have support)

I managed to do a repartition before they released a fix, unfortunately the phone is just really bad quality (its also not south african at all as claimed, its a stock chinese phone that can be found for $100 with a slightly modified rom) . The phone broke a while later , power button stopped working and I sent it back. After a bit of discussion about the poor build quality, bad software and the CPA they refunded me. Afrihost was helpful during the whole nightmare but Zest Mobile is one of the worst companies I have dealt with, expect more from a tech startup.

Changed my strat and went for a R50 vodacom no phone contract and purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 second hand. Best decision by far, yes a bit more expensive than I planned but well worth it.

Feel bad for the many other people with a Zest T1 that were promised a decent smart phone and landed up with such a terrible lemon of a phone, anyway rant over closing this thread as the problem is solved.
