Hi All,

I am a little out of touch when it comes to what HDD brands are good and which ones are to be steered clear of... I am needing to replace my Seagate 4x 1TB desktop drives in my unRaid box due to the disks power cycling at random causing issues (I thought it was only 1 drive but, I was gravely mistaken). I've tested with a completely different PSU/motherboard in order to rule out any other hardware to no avail.

As a precaution I just finished running full tests on all 4 drives with SeaTools bootable and they have all passed however, this doesn't rule out intermittent motor/circuitry failure which didn't surface during these runs.

Not willing to fork out a fortune but, looking at the 2 - 4tb size range, so any input/advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you kindly, Luke.

You can't really go wrong with Seagate or Western Digital.
Seagate's Ironwolf and WD's Red drives are designed for NAS enclosures but the others would do just fine for home setup. I have two WD Red 1TB drives and one WD Green 6TB in my Qnap 4-bay enclosure. They've been working hard for probably 3 years now; no issues yet.

@souljazk that is perfect, thank you! I completely forgot about backblazes HDD lists.... Will check the disks using HDSentinal as well.
