I have no idea where to start and just dont want to go and buy a brand name because snob.

So, not concerned about portability, I want something decent, does not have to the absolute best, dont know anything about features and not sure what something decent will cost.

Dont really want to spend more than R3k, but I have a rubber arm if its REALLY worth it. Educate me please.

I'd suggest the JBL Charge 4. I have one and although it's bassey It absolutely rocks for home parties and gyming at home. It's also water-resistant and doubles as a battery bank whenever you might be in need. My GF also has one and they can link up to play music together without any delay.

Then I could also recommend the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 2. The megaboom 3 is just a slight improvement.

I'm no purist but I have some experience with these.

I could go on about "audiophile" grade stuff or other fancy options but in interest of practicality what I found works well enough for me is a Google Home Mini.

I mean the mini was already sitting in the room where the gym equipment (that usually collects dust) was as well and having the option of voice control to play a specific song / artist and pause, stop, volume etc was nice.

Now it doesn't have aux out but theirs Bluetooth and even more useful is the WiFi casting so I can play music off my phone's apple music app (it only supports google play and spotify by itself). I have also upload some of my own music collection to the cloud (it's free up to 50,000 tracks).

I suppose one could argue that for better quality one needs an aux out so the other google or amazon options (I actually do want to try an echo one day).

So to summarize, I reckon get one for the controlling part and if you want better audio pair it to something. For a 3k budget a normal soundbar should be decent enough and will be space saving as well when wall mounted

This will be an ebucks gift via takealot, so given the fact that the charge 4 and megaboom3 are the same price, the Megaboom seems to be the better buy, from the very limited reading I have done. Music source will be spotify via my phone.

Would a normal soundbar provide same bass as the above mentioned suggestions?

For what it's worth some soundbars come with a sub

If it's only for you, use earphones [emoji848]

Ultimate ears Megaboom 3 is amazing. Loud, great quality, good battery, indestructible, water/dust proof. Look up some reviews online, they're great all round.
