Hi all,

About to buy the following off wootware:

1. I am pretty sure it will, but I want to make sure and have no surprises - is all of this compatible?
2. Anything here that I should stay away from or look at an alternative?
3. Any other helpful advice before I pull the trigger :)

Is this for gaming or work/video editing/something else?

Make sure your case has enough height clearance for the cpu cooler.
The 14700kf is marginally more expensive at an extra R100 for an additional 4 e-cores and a bump in frequency, though you have to wait for stock.

Intel version:

Superior AMD version:

These prices are just for comparison, I would check with Progenix as well for comparitive pricing.

Thanks foir reply. Will the 14700kf work with the mobo/ram I have selected?

I have been Intel my whole life. I am happy to make the switch, hearing good things about AMD lately. Thanks so much for the effort. Appreciated.

The 7800X3D is the fastest gaming CPU on the market, barring a few exceptions. Not a bad idea to see how it performs in your specific game, however it's generally faster, cooler and with lower power usage which seems to work out to a pretty sweet deal.

Watching some reviews on the 7800x3d and I am going to go with this. So glad I asked here :)

Anything else I should consider before I pull the trigger?

What case do you have? And what storage are you using? Also what GPU?

Just list all your specs actually :D

Currently

MSI RTX3080 Seahawk
32GB DDR4 3200
3 SATA SSD's
i7 9700
Gigabyte Z390 UD

Progenix is cheaper, thanks for the tip on that.

This is my shopping cart - only thing that is different is the RAM. Any real difference between this and what i previously chose? The one I chose now claims to be specific for AMD, whatever that means. :)

I have that exact RAM and CPU, works perfectly..

Unless you specifically need X670 for some reason, I'd say you don't need X670 really. I'm running a B650 Gaming X AX and it does everything I need it to. The RAM you have now is technically slower than the other RAM, however AM5 doesn't scale well with faster RAM above 6000 AFAIK, so no loss there.

In my opinion you should drop the board to a B650 and get yourself a shiny new nVME for Windows and some games - 1 or 2TB would be perfect.
