Hi, :D I'm new, but I modded my case last weekend and would like to share it here.
So I decided I would mod my Corsair Obsidian 650D a bit. No real aesthetic changes, just some practical ones. The fan in the front has to suck air through 2 grills, which is by far the loudest thing in this case and it does not push the amount of air that I want it to, so I changed that.

First off I stripped off everything that I could and removed all the hardware and proceeded with cutting a gaping hole in the front of the case:

And then some filing.

Next up i wanted to add 2 120mm fans to the front, but to mount them I had to create a panel out of 1mm aluminium. First it was cut to size and then I cut the two holes for the fans in them. I only had a hacksaw and not the greatest skill with it but I think the holes came out just fine and after some filing and sanding looked acceptable.

The fans that I am going to mount:

I forgot to buy black spray paint, but my dad had some black paint at hand so I painted the panel, rather than spraying it. It did not come out quite as good as i had hoped but it looked quite good once mounted.

And my PC setup while I was cutting stuff up:

Another change I wanted to make was the white power and hard drive activity LED's. As the rest of my build s leaning towards red i changed the LED's as well.

The rest of my case was also super dusty and was in dire need of a good clean:

I am quite happy with the result. I am thinking of still buying a proper fan controller to which I can wire all the fans but we'll see about that.
Thanks for watching. :D

Lookin very good bud, and glad to see you got rid of em dust bunnies while you were in there!

Thanks guys!! ;) It is nice to see that there is a modding community in this country. I know a couple of guys over at Bit-Tech but it's cool that there is a local site promoting it!
I am thinking of making a cover that will go over the PSU and the cables at the bottom to completely seal that section off, as well as a black and red cover for the silver GPU as it stands out like a sore thumb.

good job man!
Please tell me how you managed such clean holes with a hacksaw? And how did you start the cut off?

Haha!!!

Madness... I actually checked this mod out on Bit-Tech yesterday, and alas you're from here!!! :D

Nice job bud, I'm contemplating something similar with my 600T also to add another 240 rad to my loop as well as a waterblock for the 680, but all in due time. :)

go nuts man! this is a great mod.well done.

Good gob buddy, I love it when people start cutting onto things.
Thanks! From now on mods are gobbed at :D

It was a really thin blade on the saw. Drilled a hole at the edge of the markings, threaded the saw through and started cutting and applied a lot of oil. Made things 10 times easier.

Bit-tech is a great site. Just sucks that everything is overseas. You should also check out Razer's mod Proxima on bit-tech. It must have vanished in the pages because he is busy with school work :(
Go for it. That double mesh on the front of corsair cases is annoying, just makes the fans louder. As far as I can see they seem to have removed it from their newer cases.

On another note: I have just ordered a fan controller, because the cables of those fans are a bit short to reach the motherboard header and where making a lot of noise and I like the idea of controlling the fans the way I want them.
