Morning all,

So, my son has a
Anne Pro 2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
on his Christmas wishlist, but I can't find that, or any 60% keyboard for that matter, in SA. Closest is the 65% Ducky from Rebel Tech.

Any ideas where I can look?

Thanks

Forgive my ignorance...whats so special about this type of keyboard.? Not a gamer so would not know the difference.

65% Might not be bad if you are willing to pay the premium, I personally prefer the 65% purely because it has dedicated arrow keys and there is no need for FN + [KEY] just to navigate :/ (really got me with my 60% keyboard)

It isn't much bigger than the 60%, few centimeters at most. Plus if you get it locally you have don't have to worry as much about warranty, shipping and all the other shenanigans. Ducky is a brilliant brand as well, very well built, sure a lot of people here can agree.

Yeah, I hear you about the Ducky, and it does look like a nice piece of Kit ... Rebel Tech seems to be out of stock on everything though :(

Try Aliexpress or Amazon. A few weeks back the keyboard was R600 on Aliexpress for some holiday event. I'm sure it will be on special this black friday as well. Might want to use something like AGS to get it here quicker as well as I don't believe shipping and import cost will be that hight.

Thanks ... Legit site?
O yes they are, I have made two purchases from them and they are solid. I just ordered the Ducky One 2 Mini Mecha from them as well.

There should be more Ducky stock available soon. I am hounding them to get me a 65 as I must have this for gaming. Having used Ducky for just over a year now I am hellbent on sticking with the brand. Also given the weight of a decent mech keyboard you are going to be paying for shipping, more than is reasonable :)

My second option would be the Corsair K65 as that can also very easily be sourced locally.

If all else fails, most of us grew up on a hiding and family feuds on christmas day and we all turned out just fine :)

I ordered mine from Gearbest on the 20th with Priority shipping, they haven't shipped it yet. Starting to get a little peeved.

There's an Anne Pro 2 avail for sale on....*gulp*...Gumtree.
Dude's in Cape Town however. I would be able to assist with checking out the board for you if required.

Note: I saw this a few days ago and asked him what switched it has - Browns FYI.

Not sure if the price is decent though, have not kept an eye on the Anne Pro 2 market prices.

Thanks Dude, but as this will be a X-Mas gift, I will have to buy new ;)

EDIT: The price is good!

If you buy it from Ali express it's R1400 total including ems

I always see the deals on AliExpress. but not sure about their trustworthiness, same as banggood :)

Not sure about the gaming experience, but one should have their hands more inline with their shoulders and not having the keypad and arrows gives one more room on the right to do this with space to move the mouse. Otherwise they are just easier to LAN with ;)

So I just realised that there are no arrow keys, is this why racing games have changed their default to ASDW? I found it more difficult using the left hand.

Bought the same keyboard from Banggood (still a terrible name) about a year and a half ago. Paid around R935 shipped. Took 3 weeks but that was mainly due SA`s crappy postal service as it was in SA within a week of ordering.

It's Christmas now, so they're bound to be more busy. Personally I wouldn't take the risk and I'd wait until the new year, rather get it than not at all

I agree. I was in no particular rush but with Christmas around the corner i wouldnt hold any stock in getting it on time.

They are trustworthy, I've bought from it more times than I can count. I prefer Aliexpress over banggood as it's sort of like a sub company from Alibaba which is very well known and very big. The chinese amazon you can say.

Picked one up this morning. My son doesn't know yet :)
Thanks @RebelTech

Damn if your son isn't ecstatic for this then beat his ass for Christmas!

Also, if you really want to get him into the keyboard hobby aspects, buy him a set of aftermarket shine through PBT keycaps at some point (white caps look especially crazy when RGB shines through them).

EDIT: Which switch type did you choose?

So this was on his Christmas wishlist, but I am only buying gifts later this month ... so he sold his Huntsman Elite to buy this himself. Part of his wishlist is keycaps, which I will then get him for actual Christmas: Tai-Hao PBT Backlit - Red Alarm Product Name Tai-Hao PBT Backlit ...

NOTE: The Ducky One 2 SF right side keys are NON-STANDARD. You are going to have to buy keycaps from Ducky specifically for the SF form factor or wait for 3rd party vendors.

Unless he only wants to replace the letter/number keys while leaving the modifier keys stock.

Good point! I will check it out with him before settling on the caps ... thanks for the heads up!

Cherry MX Brown - It was that or MX Red Silent on his list ... I know jack about this, so went on what he "requested" :)
Browns are good. You did good. Just count your lucky stars you did not get a board with blue switches - if that was the case you'd have to say good bye to peace and silence while he's gaming! :ROFLMAO:

Luckily he locks himself in his room ... he forgets though that I play PS4 about 3 meters from his door, in the upstairs TV room ... I need to have a chat to him again about language :)
Come to think of it, he is using a Dell Business keyboard for today ... maybe I must keep the Ducky until the language is more suitable for general ear consumption :)
