Palworld. The game that is destroying every other current game in terms of online players. Something like 4 million copies sold in the first 2 days. Anyone jamming it? How are you finding it?

Went into it with 0 expectations and I'm enjoying it so far.

There are loads of things to do despite it being in Early Access and I've faced no performance issues whatsoever.

Have a couple friends playing it, it's apparently good but you can feel it still early access, I purchased the game last night , have still yet to play it.

Will update once i gave it a couple hours run through :)

It puts modern Pokemon to shame. If anything I would hope it inspires Game Freak / TPC / Nintendo to innovate instead of putting in the bare minimum amount of effort, relying solely on nostalgia to push sales and milk this franchise dry. But who am I kidding that will never happen. They could release a literal turd and sell 10 million units on day 1.

I have it but haven't played yet. Was putting in some time on the updated Sunkenland but got Palworld after seeing it on YT. Looking forward!

Xbox game pass is a few versions behind, Crashed a good few times. Steam is more upto date and I'm now playing that one.

Really enjoying it soo far.
Friends all joined one of 3 dedicated servers that 3 different okes in the group hosted. The same group of friends split into 2-4 people on each server. They all running around not reading jack shit, asking how to do things the tutorial literally told them to do and rushing to get guns.
Not fun when you trying to figure how things work and all you have are a bunch of people screaming they need a resource they don't know how to get.

Played it with one like minded friend, I hosted it. It was fun but the desync/rubber banding can be annoying.
Playing it solo, fun as hell. Enjoying discovering all the things and "Pokemans". Weird but fun breeding system.

Quite literally ARK x Pokemon

Yea, 100% agree with this.
Even though it's not perfect it definitely has the potential to become a serious contender to put a big thorn into Pokemons side.

But yea... Nintendo could literally sell you a turd with a Pokemon badge on it and it will sell.

My wife and daughter are forbidding me to start it without them

Let's all hope so and be optimistic 🤞

Since nostalgia lost its effect on me many years ago I couldn’t even be bothered to enjoy Pokemon. It’s fucking boring as hell.

When I owned my switch I tried to play that pokemon at the time, can’t even remember what it was called. But couldn’t even play more than an hour before I gave up.

I’ll definitely give this a go on launch, I never dabble in early access.

My review from purely from watching Youtube:

Pals are rather overpowered.
Some designs are just straight up copies.

Other than that, looks like a fun game. I do like the aspect of having them work for you. I'm not aware of a game with that game aspect (Not saying it doesn't exist)

Assuming they survive until then given the pretty much inevitable Nintendo lawsuit.

Edit: jinx @TheJudge you owe me a coke.
The outlook that a lot of people seem to have is that the trailer or showcase from when they announced the game two years ago is pretty much how the game turned out and it didn't get shutdown in development so the "idea" is that Nintendo can't do anything about it.
I don't really know the legalities and all that, but I can say that if nintendo do shut Palworld down they are going to be hated by quite a large group of people as a result of it.

Personally I don't give a flying F if they stole ideas, based their stuff heavily on pokemon. The game is fun and that is all I care about.

My thoughts from purely watching youtube streams is Pokemon with Guns.
It looks fun but yea one can see it still in early access, but defs have a good thing going.

That being said i also feel people are so starved for a new pokemon type game and this is the closest thing out there at the time. Good or not people just want their Pokemon fix.

It's such a great game, nice change of pace going from try hard, hardcore survival games to this lighthearted, fun experience.

I LOVE THE EXPLORATION
The game is super forgiving, probably not every elden ring giga chad gamers type of vibe, but hey, it's nice not to get f#cked by everything every 2 seconds.
You got food, it drains to 0, you don't die, you just drop to 1HP till you eat again.
Fast travel points are everywhere.
You die, your location is on the map where you died, get all your stuff back, no loot despawn timer.

I mainly play competitive titles, Rocket League, CS2, League of Legends etc.

I usually touch new games and drop them after ~2 hours.
I racked up over 14 hours on this in 2 days 😂🙈 it's so much fun.

*I never got into Pokemon, always been a DBZ guy, so my rating is purely of general gameplay and enjoyment, not comparing it to something I always wanted from a different franchise or what other games are lacking.

I'll have to correct you.

First thing I did was punch a giant green mammoth which proceeded to stomp my face in.
Respawned, Ran back to it and took my revenge by hitting it again........

Rookie numbers bro.
Sitting on 70 hours so far just on steam. Spent the first day or so on EggsBox Gaym pass.
Yea... I did no life it.

Yeah no for sure, the devs deserve credit for a refreshing take on the creature collector genre. Nintendo doesn't own the genre, so whether the actual character designs constitute copyright infringement will end up being for a court to decide.

I wouldn't rule out Nintendo suing though. They are infamous for taking people to court for things that even vaguely resemble one of their IPs. They may have been waiting for the game to be released or even get out of early access for some legal threshold to be crossed, after which their case would be stronger.

And they're definitely aware of what is happening:

I know Nintendo have an army of lawyers ready to sue the crap out of anyone and anything.
What I tried to say is that they usually kill Pokemon fan projects or Pokemon like games while they are in development so they never really get a chance to even get this far. Perhaps you are right that they are waiting to build a strong case against them or something.

I saw that Pokemon mod for Palworld.... I don't know how stupid they have to be to think that they wouldn't be buried by Nintendo for that.

Also... 6 million sales x 30 dollars a pop. That's $180M dollars. Even if only 50% of that value is true... They are rich for a small dev team xD

Agreed.

But even the stock game has waaaaayyy too many stock characters that resemble actual Pokémon to not face some IP litigation from Nintendo.

Even if a lot of the characters had less resemblance to Pokémon characters, Nintendo are still very happy to sue.

LOL I was explaining the game to someone and I also kept saying "Pokemon" instead of pal.

Anyway Nintendo has now officially announced they are going to investigate the game for possible copyright infringement.

After putting a kak ton of hours into it in a short amount of time and exploring quite a lot of the mechanics.

The game is actually very bad.
You can exploit the progress tree.
You can accidently make a "key" item for a friend or guildmate just to accidently take it yourself but you can't drop or give the additional item to them so you have to make another one.
A lot of the mechanics are basic bare bone copies from other games.

I could go on about all the things wrong I found in Palworld but that isn't the point of this.
The game is bad but it's also something I and a lot of people have been wanting from a creature collection game for years which Nintendo just hasn't done.

And I suspect the reason why this game isn't completely tanking even though I think this game should still be in Alpha is that it cost R250, it runs well on almost any hardware from the last 5 years.
Compare that to a recent pokemon game, step 1 Buy a switch for $300, buy game for $60, game runs like ass and even worse after the DLCs(with an additional cost). EDIT: Any online functionality requires a monthly subscription
It's really not hard to see why people just don't give a damn about Palworld's incompleteness/broken everything or even blatant IP infringements when the cost of playing is R250 and that's it.

Anywho, Back to Palworld I go :)

I 100% agree.

The game is quite broken and unbalanced but at the same time it fills a gap in the genre that has been long overdue.

I'm really enjoying the game so far and I'm quite keen to see how it will develop and improve overtime :D
