Not an option for right now - just one of the two.

I've added pictures to the OP to show exactly what the difference will be. You can and still will be able to choose between the way it is now and the proposed change, the difference will just be what you see by default.

Sort by quantity: OpenCart - Change Default Product Sort By Quantity

Massage it as desired. Otherwise #2.

Definitely option 2 still. Don’t want to see 1 item mixed in all that out of stock.

That makes little sense from a usability point of view. By price or name you can quickly and easily scroll to where you think the item will appear (like by name, you know WD won't be on page 1 of SSDs, or by price you know you won't see 8TB SSDs on page 1). By quantity you will have brands, sizes, and ranges all mixed together. Something like Takealot search results :ROFLMAO:

Still the option where it hides by default.

When shopping at Wootware (where I typically go, haven't bought in a while Oj0 otherwise I'll give you a try) I constant tick the only show in stock option.

Thats my thing with Wootware too, the default display doesn't really tell you what they have on offer. I filter down and resort by price every time.

Still 2 for me thanks. If its not in stock I don't want to know about it.

Second image looks better.

If you do go with image 1, make the 'Out of stock'less agressive, perhaps a mid-tone grey would work.

That kind of defeats the purpose. The idea is that your eyes don’t have to focus on something to know the stock status.

Hey OjO
Is it not possible to prioritize in stocked items first and put the out of stocks bottom of the list?

Did you read my mind?

I was literally on your site today looking at stuff and found having to browse through all of the out of stock items to be frustrating.

I think hiding by default but having a checkbox to show is a great idea.

Or, the titanice approach of show everything by default but at least have a button to show only items in stock.

My 2c

Damn, do I really spend enough time on your site that I know when having either option is better for me but then again I also like to have 100 items listed per page and use the filters very agressively to get to what I want.

I've added pics to the first post as it seems some people didn't understand. If you want to change your vote, now is the time.
Yup, I had the right idea.
At least the filter is on the top and clear as day, so great idea (y)

That's literally how it's been for more than 1.5 years - since day 1. Refer to the first image in the OP. The filters have changed (drastically), but hiding out of stock items has always been an option :)

Then I'm blind bud as I have not seen said button.

Heads off to go look

Can you have the Search show out of stock items as well, but the default browsing will hide out of stock?

If I'm browsing for something like a new mobo (not a specific model), I'd only want to compare prices of ones that I can buy.
Out of stock is of very little interest to me as I won't know when you'll get stock, or how much the price will be when you get stock.

And If I'm searching for something in particular, I'll use the actual search to see if it's available on the site (even if it's out of stock) just to see if you could get that item.

Vote option 2 :)

Filtering out items that are out of stock is the first thing I usually do when buying stuff online. Thus, option 2 would make a lot of sense.
