Xdefiant Releases Tomorrow :)

Playing the game back to back with MW3 you can feel the difference.

My gripes from most frustrating to least.

- Spiderbots are the most annoying thing ever, I can't believe someone thought those were a good idea.
- I've never heard anyone talk in this game. COD makes you feel like part of a team and one side talking kak the whole game amps you up to do better.
- Bunny hopping is king. Sliding is like sliding through mud and even though slide cancelling speeds it up, it doesn't feel fluid.
- Every game is a sweatfest like when I'm in COD versing Diamonds and Crims. I've not had one easy game. Which is weird because I was told the lack of SBMM would make games less sweaty.
- I hardly ever see any console players. Even with input-based matchmaking disabled, my games are full of PC KBM users. I want to destroy some controller kiddies every now and then like in COD but nooo.
- The guns don't feel as satisfying. The sound doesn't have enough depth and the hitmarker sound isn't strong enough.
- It feels like all the emphasis is on mastering the factions, not just a pure gunfight skill game like COD which rewards you for being good (killstreaks). I'd rather abilities be killstreaks earned from getting certain kills.
- No Search and Destroy mode.
- The hitboxes are tiny while COD has hitboxes the size of doors. Frustrating when combined with the high paced movement.
- Too grindy for levelling up guns.


The biggest thing going for it is that it's free and its going to be supported long-term. Obviously people love that instead of paying R1400 for the annual COD.
 
Been enjoying the game. Play with my son and one of my mates mostly. I'm pretty kak at shooters, but I try my best. This weekend I've battled to get onto local servers; especially in the morning. After 11 it seems to be better.

There's some good local players man. Jeepers some of these kids have crazy movement. Would be awesome to see local teams compete once this game gets a competitive (pro) league eventually.

Game's dead. Off sick at home so been trying to play all day. Wait 10-15 minutes in the lobby and then end up on a European server.

Tried all combinations of input based on/off, cross play on/off, different game modes, tried solo queuing and duo with a mate. Same result. Evenings usually no problem, probably cos people are home from work?

Such a pity cos I really like the game.

EDIT: Seems like after 15:30 (once all the school kids get home?), things improve drastically. All Africa, full lobbies.

Seems to have everything I have been looking for to play with some mates after work casually!

I'm feeling hopeful that the game will be good, but Ubisoft is in charge so there's that...

Someone told me about this game a couple months I ago. I didn't care about it.
Found out today that the game is going offline by the same person.

Apparently it wasn't on steam? I dunno but it seems like a very bad idea to not have your games on steam.
 
It was one of those games, if you weren't good it's because you weren't good.... there was no sbmm to hold the cod players hands and there was no eomm or damage reductions based on how well you were playing.

Mark is a legend, I truly hope a good fps title picks him up and allows his no SBMM way of life to continue... he was the person that made the older CODS fun

Facts!

As an "old toppie" that played console (controller) all his life, I started playing this game on PC (MnK) when it released. When I say I was k^k, I mean I was proper k^k. Like 0.3 k/d k^k. I think I even went 0-16 or something like that in one of my first games. But because I grew up in a time where participation trophies never existed, I was fine with keeping at it and just trying to get better. In recent times, I usually end around 1 k/d, sometimes a bit over, sometimes a bit under. But it was a lekker game to actually keep playing and see myself improve over time. I just can't go back to playing Cod with SBMM now; there's no reason for you to try and get better cos you're always just playing clones of yourself.

Yeah this was a braindead Ubisoft move insisting on using their crappy launcher. Dumbest sh!t ever.
 
New leaked info

It was meant to release on Steam 18 December 2024 correlating with their upcoming season release date.

Seems the Devs and HR teams didn't have a clue that cancellation was on the table, lay offs apparently already happening in December and people whom spent money getting refunds.

All current rumours point towards Ubisoft attempting to save their company as the DEI/Woke virus has affected profit margins along with The Crew mishaps. Gambling people have their money on the new Assassins Creed finally sinking their ship if it comes out along the lines of what they promised with the community showing a huge hatred towards it.

Techpowerup announced it's 277 Dev getting retrenched

Other leaks were Season 4 would have added a Zombies mode.

A number of FPS journalists were supposed to meet the Xdefiant team this December in a few weeks to discuss the future of the game as well as a Q&A session but that got cancelled two weeks ago.

The Finals fyi only resides in 10 million Steam Libraries as Xdefiant had 15 million at a stage using Ubisoft

Another game announced to be cut is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

Damn. Sounds super legit and reliable.
 
XDefiant was nice while it lasted. The servers are going offline on June 3rd, 2025.
