I tested this hardware with OPNsense + ZenArmor at a client running 300Mbps Fibre and roughly 250+ Users. This handled the load sufficiently. Enabling Captive Portal with the above setup is a bridge too far for this small router. The Load Averages were too high and the router would lock up. I replaced this with a 9th Gen i5 x86 router to cope with the demands which it is doing much better. It would also appear that ZenArmor and the Intel i225V Chipset had issues. The replacement 9th Gen i5 uses PRO1000 chipsets which appear to work better with ZenArmor. The key issue here is 2.5GbE I225V chipset and ZenArmor. Removing ZenArmor from OPNsense on this router dropped load averages even further. Lesson learnt I suppose.
That being said I ran quite a complicated network setup on this small router. For other SMB's and home users who wish to run PfSense or other Firewalls this will work a treat.
