What supps are you guys using ?

Do you have a brand of whey you can recommend?
This egg business has thrown a bit of a spanner in my breakfast

Whats the opinion on non fitness whey or protein additions to your diet?
Say like these :

I'm just very wary of the crap that is included with the more mainstream supplements
Some brands make wildly different claims. I've had good experiences with MyWellness Superior Whey but it can get $$$. Look hard online to find it. Wellness Warehouse also stocks it, I think.

To be honest, I haven't tried adding non-fitness supplements to my diets. I've just stumbled on Just Protein (www.justprotein.co.za) which, while not cheap, looks like a really good alternative to the Jungle Plus High Protein cereal I was using - until Tiger Brands just stopped making it one day.

I stay far away from soya, though. Not good for the number twos...

If you can, save up for at least one box of meals from a meal prep service to see how they're made up. It was an eye-opener for me.

Otherwise, you can't really go wrong with the good old mince and brown rice, chicken and beans...

Good luck!
Thanks for all the help! Will definitely keep this in mind

Hey man
Two things / sites that helped me immensely with the whole food business is Budget Bytes and JEFF Fitness.
Budget Bytes has got a ton of meal prep recipes, what is nice is that the recipes are short and sweet, they give you the nutrional value + a more or less budget amount per meal.
JEFF Fitness is an online gym and part of the whole thing is you can access meal plans with your subscription. That helped me just make sense of everything for the first few months....
Thanks a lot for this.

I'll have a look into it and see if I can figure out how it all works :)

I haven't bought whey in probably 10 years, and found 2kg MyWellness Superior on Takealot for R600 for 60 servings and bought that, as after 2 or so hours of searching every possible site, they were the cheapest whey that didn't include soy.
So
1. Happy to hear that they are good.
2. Where do you get non-soy whey for cheaper than that?

I guess this is a bit of an older thread, but I have been using a whole grip of medicinal mushroom and botanical supplements for over a year and it's incredible. I feel like a different human and my endurance and testosterone has increased drastically. I sleep like a champ too.

I take the following, 4 times a week:
Mornings:
Cordyceps, Lions Mane, Bacopa, Moringa
Before bed: Reishi, Ashwagandha, Turkey Tail

I started a company that supplies these, should anybody be interested. I'd be happy to answer any questions related to this as well.
Kindly send me a DM.

So you're a drug dealer or what's the deal?

I find it a bit hard on the stomach though... I had the Peppermint flavour, now on the Dutch Chocolate. Not so great for me personally, so won't buy this flavour again.

Want to try the following:

The Raspberry Soda Rascals taste amazing.

Not a fan of USN but still interested - how so?

Currently on the following:
-Evolve Nutrition Creagen Elite [during & after]
-Evolve Nutrition Basix Glutamine [after]
-Evolve Nutrition Neuro-EAA Spectrum-9 [after]

I'm using Great Shakes daily shake. Got all your multi's and mushrooms and amino acids. Can just add plain whey protein to get your macros.

In defense of PSN Lifestyle. I have been using it for 3 years now, specifically the Chocolate Truffle flavour - after @dainluke recommended it. I read up a lot on Protein Spiking, where manufacturers add Amino Acids and Creatine to increase the overall protein content of the powder, but with less "real protein". The problem that I have faced is that what PSN Lifestyle says on its labels, is exactly the same as what USN, NutriTech and other brands do. It's all a mix of Whey Concentrate, Whey Isolate, and other shit like Whey Powder (??), combined with BCAAs and Tolerase-L. PSN Lifestyle seems to also include L Glutamine, which might indicate that it is clearly spiked. But still, I find it impossible to gauge what the differences in the protein powder really is. Can someone maybe lab test them? It seems that people associate more expensive whey with being better - but I find that to be a slippery slope.

The PSN Lifestyle Chocolate Truffle seems to have changed its composition middle last year, to a more grainy, less tasty mix. I bought 7kg on a Takealot special, and had to drink all of it. No real complaints.

Rogue Nation, which seems to be PSN Lifestyle rebranded, seems to use the original, delicious, nicely textured Chocolate Truffle mix. I have been enjoying it a lot recently. There is a difference because the PSN has 67g protein per 100g and Rogue Nation has 62g per 100g. That's how you can tell the difference between mixes.

Then at Virgin Active, you can get Biogen Premium Iso-Whey, which retails at around R800/kg. I can say that the texture is great, and it's more like a milkshake, than flavoured milk. However, the sweetener aftertaste isn't great.

So my supps:
-5g Creatine per day
-60g Rogue Nation/PSN Lifestyle Whey (With Biogen Iso-Whey once a week)
-Ashwaganda (Possibly just snake oil)
-Omega 3 + 6 mix

Pretty solid breakdown - I am a big fan of Evolve Nutrition

Anyone still using Universal Animal Pak and M-Stack? The pak was like a multivitamin of 14 tablets per serving lol and the M-stack a test conversion that was really hard on the liver but great (21 day cycle). SARMS has taken over the market more recently so I don't methoxy is that popular anymore, but just curious if the fandom of Animal products is still there

Anyone who needs super cheap pre-workout.

Fair warning it tastes like absolute shit but I've never had stronger pre-workout. If it's your first time using pre-workout I would highly recommend half a scoop.

I wouldn't even call that a pre-workout. You probably have a high sensitivity to caffeine.

The only stimulant in that mix is the caffeine, the rest is just a bunch of non essential amino acids (Taurine has a small stimulant like effect) and B vitamins.

You'd be better off buying some BCAA's and having a strong cup off coffee before training.

Do you need much else I mean 300mg of Caffeine per scoop and a bunch of beta-alanine for R145 is pretty decent. my tolerance for caffeine is not high at all.
