Hi everybody!

So I wanna go 4K. Planning on getting the PS5 when It eventually comes out in SA, but I have no 4K TV.

So I have a budget of 10K (including purchasing a TV license. Been using a monitor, so ain’t got that).

I saw a Hisense TV at game. Anybody purchased it? Is it worth getting? If not, is there any other TV you can recommend at my price point?

Also, would like it to be 55” if that’s possible!

Thanks!

I have had two Hisense 4k TVs. Both worth it for the price. Currently on the B8000 65". Check if you can get a ULED version. The bezels are so much thinner.

If you can wait and save up more, next year allot more 4k TV's should have hdmi 2.1, HDR1000+ with VRR, that would be my next upgrade

I got this a year or two ago.. no issues thus far. Works pretty well. Was priced very decent compared to others at the time. Paid about 6k.

Currently have a Hisense 4k and definitely cant complain. Only thing is the smart tv capabilities are not the best, still has all the basics like youtube, netflix, dstv now etc. Just not much variety.

How well does its Wi-Fi capabilities work?

Haven't updated my TV knowledge in a while but I have had my 50" 4K Hisense for 2 years now and I am super happy with it. The Smart TV software is a bit trash so I use a Fire Stick for that but I have no desire to upgrade my TV for a long time. (But you'll use your PC so all good) Picture quality is fantastic. I do also have the "premium" version of the TV, though I have no idea what difference that makes.

THEORETICALLY (I wouldn't recommend anything illegal 😲 ) you could just put a friend/family member's TV license number in when you order your TV.

Got this too. It looks good. The HDR is crap, but that's the case with most TVs under R15k

That would take a huge budget increase from R10k. A TV with all those features is probably R20-25k just for a 50-55 inch.

Man, I wish I could! Spoke to my parents who live in Durban (I live in Joburg) and they said I gotta get my own!

It sucks cause I will NEVER be using this TV for watching analog or satellite TV, but it is what it is

I had a look at that, but it said that there’s no stock anywhere [emoji24]

Thank you! My wallet seems to be leading me more and more to this TV. I’m not to fussed about the apps as I stream on my PC more than anything. If it has Netflix then I’m happy!

Thanks for the response! I think I’m going to end up getting this TV!

1. LG/Samsung
2. Hisense

But hey either of the 3 will make you happy, because you don't have a 4k yet.

Just one question thou. I know 4k @ 120hz isn't gonna be likely for ps5/xsx. But isn't ps5/xsx supposed to be pair with 4k 120hz TV? Not that I can personally think 10teraflops or 12 teraflops gpu can reach 120fps on 4k.

My reason just mentioning this is most 4k tvs are 50hz tvs. So lock at 50 fps, but 50fps on 4k should be awesome😁

hisense - 55q8600 - got it on takelot got 9900

Great for 4k with reasonble price

Do yourself a favor and wait for hdmi 2.1 to become the standard within your budget. Best to upgrade to the new standard and future proof especially if you don't plan on upgrading in a few years. I've personally given 4k a skip but will jump in once hdmi 2.1 becomes the standard. 4k content will also becoming more mainstream in time. Just my 2 cents.

Have a Hisense 65" 4K and love the experience. Smart features are indeed nothing to write home about, but nothing a Firestick or something along those lines can't fix. I'm holding back for the new consoles and GPU's to make 8K more mainstream before upgrading. My perhaps flawed logic is telling me 4K prices are going to plunge in the near future and replacement 8K units will come in at the top tier 4K pricing we're seeing now. Considering the new consoles and GPU's cope decently at 8K (going on available info out there), seems holding out for an 8K TV seems prudent in my opinion.

Thank you for the response and feedback everybody!

I ended up purchasing the Hisense TV and I quite like it! I can’t believe how much I missed out on when it comes to 4K! Been watching Netflix and it’s SOOOO GOOOOD!
