Have to move short notice at the end of the month to another place. The new place uses Vuma same as the old one but I have questions that I need help with before I do something stupid. Would be grateful for guidance on this before I try to phone them for info.

Both units have an ont box inside and from what I've read on vuma's site, this needs to stay where it is when I move out. Is this correct?

Can I plug in my WiFi router into the new ont and get going with a phone call to change the address or do I need to cancel everything (cool ideas) and reapply? I'm not sure how fibre is configured wrt line speed and stuff.

I'm a little apprehensive about having to pay for installation again considering its something like R1.8k on Vuma and all cabling has already been done but if that's what the official process is, I just need to make sure that the new "installation" is done the day I move in.

Interesting question...I would assume the costs already recouped so you should not be paying that R1.8k again. It's all about reconnecting data at a different address via a telephone call to your ISP but then again I don't trust this Vumatel they have some incompetent people working in accounts.

Afaik theres 2 fees, install and connect. Some ISPs absorb both
Since install isnt needed you should just have the connection fee

Cancel and reapply. You won't be paying the installation costs again since the infrastructure is already in place. However, that's how things used to go at Web Africa. Not sure how it works at Cool Ideas. Cool thing at Web Africa now is that they have a feature called moving homes, that sets up these service moves from one location to another at move dates. So no drop in service.

Moved into a flat that had the ONT box. Applied on Cool Ideas website, went to their office to pick up router, activated online when back at the flat. Just the monthly fee. No nonsense no fuss approach. ez gg

The only thing would be the connection fee..
Really stupid with fibre, but yeah unless you have a contract with an ISP that absorbs that cost as well.
Phone up vuma they will just need to change the address on your account and link the new box to it.
