NOTE: These cards are only stable while using the AMD Pro Drivers, all other drivers are unstable and will occasionally cause driver crashes. When using the AMD Pro drivers it works perfectly, which are the exact same as the normal drivers. This is a general Vega 56 card problem, can be found all over the web.

On hold for @Ri
Thats not a Vega issue, its that specific model of gigabyte vega issue. Their cooler is really horrendous. Good luck with sale

Advice is get some new thermal pads for VRMs and Mosfets, repaste the die and make sure the copper is touching both HBM and GPU, or just get an aftermarket cooler. And undervolt it, Gigabyte really failed with this one
I can confirm that it is not cooling related as my card runs ar around 45-58 deg. Once you install the pro drivers, the crashing stops completely...it's a very strange thing.

PS: It is also happening to MSI and Sapphire Vega 56

I haven't had a single crash on my Vega and update Radeon drivers every release. If you can send sources for MSI and Sapphire. But the gigabyte cards are known for its issues. Their cooler was badly designed and the copper plate does not completely touch the HBM on the die which causes the HBM to overheat. I would check HWINFO64 and run a stress if i was you and specifically check HBM temp, GPU temp can be fine but the HBM temp is where the problem on those coolers are.

Check the reviews as well GIGABYTE Radeon RX Vega 56 DirectX 12 GV-RXVEGA56GAMING OC-8GD Video Card - Newegg.com

That is interesting, but do you reckon the pro drivers then reduce HBM Temps? 🤔

I've checked my system with HWINFO but haven't found anything out of the norm.

However thanks for sharing some more info, I've spent many hours trying various things, but the pro driver was the only known fix eventually.
