Is there a specific reason you don't want to use the Steam Link app instead? (Not judging just trying to understand the difference)

Hey Xirious.
It seems my Samsung Smart TV is not really great at decoding. Getting great performance dips and frame drops with poor quality.
Using my laptop over the same connection I get a really seamless experience, especially using the moonlight app.
After seeing that I can side load Moonlight onto a Steam Link (Also making it able to stream non steam games, especially xbox pass) it seems like a good option for the price considering that a Nvidia shield costs a whole lot more.
Managed to get my hands on a steam link so we'll just have to see if It works better.
