Deal Thread URL: https://carbonite.co.za/index.php?threads/asus-prime-z370-pii.496767/
Seller: @OddballZA
Buyer: @f0Ri5
Description of Bad Deal:
By the seller's identity, you guys should already be able to guess what happened here, but I guess I'll start at the beginning. Recently, an old PC at our work packed up, and unfortunately it runs software that doesn't work on windows 10. A recipe for disaster, I know, and as much as I would've wanted to switch over to a more modern alternative, I had no say in the matter. It was an 8th gen CPU so I needed to find and 8th gen board for it. Not having anything to work on, it was a bit of a crisis, so I volunteered to find a replacement (bad idea, I should've kept my mouth shut, but at this point, it is what it is). Cue the b250 from Bobshop, purchased in a hurry and without proper research on my part. That being said, I still don't excuse the storefront nor the seller for refusing a refund, as it's law for an online seller to provide a no-questions-asked refund within a certain timeperiod. If you're unconvinced, check the excerpt from the consumer protection act I posted there, in the Smack Talk thread.
Before the board arrived from Bobshop, I did indeed realize my mistake, then starting to scurry for another board. I contacted @Jaco52222 who did have a board for me, given I'd bought stuff from him in the past, but the company wasn't willing to pay his price. After a bit of carb-surfing, I ended up finding @OddballZA's thread for his z370 and the rest... well, it ended tragically for me. Like the fellow with the CPU, I communicated with him, wasn't able to get a tracking number and now my messages aren't going through to him.
Sitting with a R1700 cost b250 I can't return, that 5.5k laptop from Ivan and R1100 into OddballZA's pockets, I'm left wondering where it all went wrong. Call me stupid if you want, or laugh at me from the sidelines, but I doubt anyone would be laughing were they in my position. Moral of the story... look before you buy, I guess. That being said, both Ivan and Oddball had quite a few positive reviews (from buyers). Apparently Oddball did have a few neutral ones, which I admit, I didn't notice. The Bobshop trader had 99% positive ratings, ~1400 reviews. I'm not quite ready to name and shame before doing a bit more research, but even then, I might just keep their name to myself. From the reaction in that smack talk thread, it seems quite a few sellers don't exactly like the idea of having to give a no-questions-asked refund, and I'm not really interested in being gangbanged here from all sides.
I rate the experience 0/10. Can confirm, when it rains, it indeed pours.
EDIT: I changed my mind. The place I got the board from was Cliqtosave.com: Online Shopping South Africa, selling through Bobshop. Not like it will really help or hinder my cause by not naming them.
