Hey guys so need some advice here
So I live in a Golf estate where there is no fibre and no fixed LTE options. I use a huge amount of data so normal LTE packages is out of the question
I have 2 options available
Uncapped Telkom LTE for R849 or Rain R450(think it's that amount)
I currently have the Rain R250 package as we have two separate Data contracts (which is ending soon)
Now the Rain R250 package is cheap and shyte. Is the R450 package better in terms of speed?
Has anyone used the Telkom LTE uncapped? Any use?
Other service providers (wireless fibre) in our area is just insanely expensive.
Are there any other uncapped LTE options available?

I actually upgraded my R250 package to the R479 24/7 unlimited package on Sunday and there is zero difference. They both perform exactly the same. Extremely shit performance at any time outside of 1AM to 5AM where I stay.

At my office 7KM away they both run between 15 - 20MBPS download and 10 - 20MBPS upload. The 10MB unlimited package is not actually limited to 10MBPS. If your R250 package performs like absolute trash during the day you are most probably suffering from congestion in your area.

My neighbor has Telkom's uncapped LTE which performs just as kak as the Rain 4G in our area. Probably using the same towers so chances are that if your Rain is slow from congestion, Telkom MIGHT be too. MTN's 4G is the only thing that performs adequately for us over here, but their data is expensive.

How far are you from Rain's 5G coverage according to their coverage map?

I'm not even remotely close to 5G unfortunately

If you have any Rain 5G coverage then go for that instead. LTE wise I will only go for Rain LTE if I have a solid connection otherwise MTN/SuperSonic or Afrihost would be my preferred choice. If you have any coverage for Bitco then I'd go with them, their installation fee is rather expensive but they have a decent package at R1100 for 30Mbps.

Afrihost MTN fixed wireless all the way

if that "huge amount of data" is about 300gig's or less Telkom
after that they throttle you down to a "4meg line" speed and then again (not sure after how many gig's)
to "2meg line speed"
thing to note about the 2meg line speed is if someone if watching youtube even at 480p no one on the wifi can do anything eg Facebook internet banking

I cant comment on Telkom LTE but Rain LTE is terrible. We had to use it while our fibre was down and we never got over 0.5mb/s
Same device and location gave us in the 30's with MTN
