Hey there so i have tried everything i could think of but just cant get the ssds working again. I bought an Hp X920 nvm ssd from evetech and after i installed it my other 2 samsung ssd does not even show up in disk management or in the bios. The Hp showed up in bios once when booting up and now does not show after i restarted my pc. I have changed the ssd to different Sata cables( they work still tested them on other pc) Did reset the Bios, change the HP to my other Nvm spot(showed in bios then restarted it self and gone again)

Computer specs are

16GB DDR4

1080 Asus rog

Z370 krait gaming mobo

i7 8700k

Sorry for the long post if someone have any tips or tricks i can try to fix this would be appreciated

So I had a similar problem. Turns out they have to be in specific sata ports. Check your manual or online.

Thanx man i just had a look at that never knew that it disables the sata ports..
I changed the ssds now one is working other one and the M2 still not showing up, do i need to do something else how did you fix the problem you had?

NVME M.2 port usage disables 2 SATA ports.

Or 1, depending on your motherboard. Mine disables SATA 1, but 2,3 and 4 are still functional.
Mine disables port 1 and 6 so i have nothing in those ports now and still cant see the m2 anymore or the other samsung ssd only 1 working now

so what happens if you remove the M.2 ? Do the Sata ports work again?

Just removed the M.2 and only the one ssd is picking up still. if i unplug the other ssd and run it with a usb sata cable it works for some reason i just cant figure this out...

Just to be sure. Your nvme should be able to pick up in either m.2 slots but the m.2 sata drive should only pick up in one of the slots. And then of course as mentioned, once those slots are both used, some sata ports will be disabled. So check in the top port if the m.2 drive is detected. Then check if the nvme is detected in the lower m.2 slot. If they are, probably use sata 2-4 for the remaining drives? Best to also test each slot one drive at a time.

My mini itx mobo has 2 m.2 slots, one in front and one at the back. Nvme works in both but the m.2 sata drive only works in the front slot. Most mobos should be similar

Thanx man tried that also now. Not working tried both slots as soon as the pc starts it beeps and restarts the pc and then not the M2 or other ssds pick up. Moved cables around changed sata ports still same thing

start from the top

1. take out all drives and then
2. install NVMe ONLY, in the TOP slot 1st and then BOTTOM if no detection in both BIOS and Windows (this way, SATA 5 and 6 will be disabled)
3. check BIOS first for detection and then only if it does, go to Windows
4. add SSDs 1 by 1 (not ports 5 or 6)

sorry for the off topic OP, but WTF would you type on the toilet?

isn't that what your phone is for?

butt I would seriously have that looked at cause it doesn't sound right

i have tried this it picked up the M.2 in the disk management and bios then pc restarted itself and after that not picking up the drive anymore so maybe a faulty m.2 drive?

we could assume that, though you mentioned that the other SSDs also gave problems of not showing up so would still try and rule out 'defects' or settings first

so the NVMe is now your OS drive?

Hey no not yet mate have a normal sata hard drive with os on and he is running fine only ssds having the problems now

The SATA1 / SATA5 port will be unavailable when an M.2 SATA SSD module has been
installed in the M2_1/ M2_2 slot.
y The SATA5 and SATA6 ports will be unavailable when an M.2 PCIe SSD module has
been install in the M2_2 slot.

so what this means is i understand correct is if M.2 drive is in 1st slot sata port 1 and 5 is disabled and if in 2nd M.2 slot 5 and 6 are disabled right? Or am i misunderstanding this

if you have an M.2 SATA SSD in slot 1, then SATA 1 and 5 will be unavailable

if you have an M.2 PCIe SSD in either slot, SATA 5 and 6 will be unavailable

can someone explain this: "Intel RST only supports PCIe with UEFI ROM"?

ok, so you actually have 4 drives in total? 1. HDD with OS, 2. 2x SSD and 3. NVMe M.2

I have 1 250 gb os sata drive, 1 3tb sata storage drive and then 2 samsungs 860 evo 250gig ssd and all were working fine till i installed the M.2 1TB HP X920
so at the moment the 1 ssd and 2 sata drives are running fine just the one ssd and M. 2 that does not pick up.

Everytime i move the M.2 from lane 1 to lane to or vice versa it shows up in bios when booting then bios needs to restart and after the restart the M.2 is gone suddenly

And as far as i can see the HP X920 1TB is a PCie drive not sata

if you leave the M.2 out, does that last drive work?

which ports are you using the SATA drives in?

and yes, the HP is PCIe so you can have it in either slot, which will disable SATA 5 and 6

send a screenshot of your bios.

Is there an option to load optimised defaults or something?
Also is it the latest bios?
Try clearing the cmos and then putting in the nvme drive by itself.

I had a similar issue (but on an older board) and nvme didnt want to work until the bios was visibly different.

edit: oh and in my case even if the nvme picked up in the bios it wasnt deteched in windows install (due to their being no driver for it in the bios)

Hey guys i took my pc in to titan ice computers they tested it and 2 of my sata channnels are not working on the motherboard so i have to send the motherboard back once evetech opens up again. Thanx for all the help i do appreciate it :)
