Truecaller kept indicating that a company called Mondo was trying to get ahold of me. This happened a few times last week, but I didn't pick up because I don't have any business with them.
The other day, the Truecaller ID was delayed so I answered. A female rep asked me if it was Dain, and instead of confirming, I decided to be skeptical and ask what this call was regarding. She proceeded to ask me to confirm my surname and birth year, but against better judgement I insisted that I would not share any personal info as I'd had no idea what the call was about.
According to her, my contract application for a device had been denied due to my low credit score (I've never owned any credit cards or contracts and I'm not formally employed yet). My first thought was: "dodged a bullet lmao," but after insisting that I had never attempted to do so, I thanked her for her time and put the phone down.
Now, I highly doubt any company is going to allow anyone to take a contract out on my name given my lack of a credit record and lack of employment record, but I'm just confused as to how this is possible. I've literally never shared my ID doc or number with anyone (not even to deal with skeptical individuals on Carb or FB), and my cellphone number doesn't trace back to any sort of database entry with any of my personal details.
The only personal info I've whored out are my Nedbank and FNB current account deets that I'm sure half of this forum has by this point, but otherwise, I'm utterly lost. Not sure what to make of this.
