Hi guys, so I ran a Yamaha RX-E810 that was gifted to me as not functioning properly for a while now, to power my homemade bookshelf speakers. I had it fixed (issue with a power switch) and it worked perfectly for close to 5 years. Unfortunately, last week I was listening to music and as I turned up the volume it simply cut out and switched off. I switched it on again and the right channel is dead. Turn up the volume to anything worth listening to and it switches off again.
So now I have two options - have it repaired again (the previous owner also had it repaired at some stage), or replace it. Last time I paid close to R500 for the repairs (time is expensive) and I just don't see myself paying more for repairs than just replacing it, so that's what I'm looking at.
So, my requirements. I use this for music around 50% of the time, and the other 50% I use it when assembling tutorial videos for work. It doesn't have to be the worlds best amplifier because of this, and cheap options will suffice. I needs to be an integrated amp (not a power amp, unless you can give me the pre-amp and DAC and stuff along as well), and I need stereo output (at least) with a subwoofer output. Subwoofer output doesn't need to be powered, I have an active subwoofer to use with it. It also needs to have a headphone out port at the front, and not the big 6.25mm one, I want the small 3.5mm jack for regular headphones, as that's what I'm using. I need around 40W per channel. A bit less, a bit more would be OK.
I have a very tight budget for this, which is why it's on R1k. I'm hoping there's a forum member with a stereo amp stashed away somewhere they're not using, willing to let it go for a good price.
