Not that I ever buy/look at collectors editions, given the way most games have gone these days I find it very hard to even consider a game until it has been out for a while & got some user experience xD

Only one I would've personally gone for in recent time is the Elden Ring CE as that was undoubtedly going to be great.

This particular one comes with a “smart watch” that links with the game (giving game stats), that supposedly can give steps and heart rate functionality as well when not using it in game. The watch case looks amazing

But … Bethesda

Pip boy was nothing like what they mentioned when they launched it

Locally it launched at R5500. Looks quite cool (abroad it appears sold out)
You just made all the resellers wet.

Game looks cool, but not that cool. I guess the Start Citizen players will have a laugh.

The game looks cool but that shit looks gey, for that price i expect a real life space ship.

It looks good, would probably be a nice collector's edition to have.

But that's stupid money, especially in this climate.

You Mean cringe. As Starfield is doing almost everything SC is doing and more and better and it's finished and ready to play In two months. I spent thousands on SC and will play again but it's far to expensive. I mean I had 3 ships and sold them and I was able to buy a full direct drive racing setup with that money.

Not to be that guy, but Starfield is definitely not doing everything SC is doing. We can ignore the "more and better" part almost completely considering the fact that it simply is not doing everything SC is doing. I find the comparison between the two a bit dumb to be honest. The better comparison would be between SQ42 and Starfield IMHO, and then Starfield obviously wins the moment it comes out lmao, but I do think the SC/Starfield comparison is ridiculous. One doesn't compare WoW to Skyrim? So why this one?

EDIT: Just to actually answer OP's question, it looks dope I think. Definitely a cool collectible.

It’s not cheap … what was the price of that pip boy ? And this comes with a smartwatch that for me looks cool
No idea what the Pip cost, I don't really buy Collector's Editions of anything. I agree, the watch looks good. We just don't know anything about it, what sort of specs it has, or functionality. Or, rather, I don't.

If it was an Apple Watch or a Samsung Smart watch I'd be more interested I guess.

Still, nice that the kit comes with something with actual utility.

I've been playing SC for years and I can count on both my hand how many things Starfield showcase copied from SC. It was so easy to see and any true SC player have seen it. Why wouldn't they. They are the only proper space game out there for reference . Not to say they actually copying them as SC didn't just suck the ideas out of nowhere.
NASA and space expert helped then.
SQ42 maybe for the story but I'm talking mechanics.

Nah, you can't say they copied SC.

You then also have to say they copied Eve Online, Elite Dangerous, No Man's Sky and every other space game with ships and explorable planets.

It's the genre, they're all going to have the same basic functions and mechanisms.

Much Like Skyrim has features in common with every other 3rd-person RPG. SC didn't invent these in the gaming space, they're just the most popular to state that they do them. Even then, do they do them? Or just state they do?

I like SC, but the quality of product they offer is akin to buying a chinese knock-off of more popular/better quality products.

Not being mean, and cannot see how i am being cringe.

Startfield is on my wishlist, will likely try and get this for xmas as I am playing D4 now and will play Witcher2077 in Sept when the expansion drops.

Also owned quite a few Chris Roberts games over the years, but not ready to pull the trigger on SC.

>be me
>wish I could say I was not ready to pull the trigger...
>but alas...

What I don't understand is, thuis game looks perfect for at least co-op yet it's strictly single player.

Concerning the SSD requirement.

I have a tiny Sata SSD for OS and a bunch of HDDs. Games are installed on HDDs and run without any issues. I know this is a question which can't be answered definitively before release, but what's the general opinion? Would I be able to run it without major performance hits?

Bear in mind I'm not a hardcore gamer, so having it 'playable' is enough for me. The rest of my PC specs is sorted. Running current AAA games without any issues.

Tough to quantify … I guess you’d see hitching showing the drive is too slow. Guess need to wait for the game to launch

I see weirdly enough Seagate is releasing external Xbox Starfield HDDs. So the SSD requirement seems flexible somehow.

Check out DF's video on Ratchet & Clank with an HDD (skip to 18 mins). This is a worst case scenario but probably where new games are heading.

I don't think Starfield will be as 'realtime' as R&C but you'll probably have lengthy load times between areas, going through doors and landing on planets.

Even an entry-level SATA SSD should help immensely compared to a HDD and these are quite cheap at the moment.

Thanks, I'll have a look during the day.

I had a look. It makes perfect sense. Taking the entire HDD caching/memory consideration into account including running on lower settings, I'm pretty sure Starfield will be playable for me

I reiterate, I'm not a competitive gamer and my life isn't ruled or ruined by game frames per second :)

Thanks man
