Well can't say that its slow? I'm running 60GB Vertex 3 in the main rig and a 120GB Vertex 3 in the Laptop,
and really can't say that its ALOT slower... Does 470 write and 555 read... Think thats under what it should be but cant really feel it :/
YOH!!!
must give us a few temp readings during days when it is running.
my only concern with this type is the heat so would like to see that.
yeah definitely get modular PSU and sommer go custom length cables.
sitting with those damn annoying unused cables is just a pain.
looking nice and good seeing you managed with that Vortex.
what media programs you running on it?
Firstly temps. Currently not in HELL HOT Stellenbosch, but currently in Luderitz Namibia,
(Remember small case and 460GTX HAWK Clocked @ 900mhz day, 920mhz gaming...)
G840 temps averages
Idle temp 35-37 on flat dead browsing...
Media Play - 43-46
Gaming between 50-56...
Doing a Media convert sits at 58-61 no more...
Force flat-lining it with IBT 65-67...
GPU Idle 31-33 - Browsing
Media playing - 34-36
Gaming - 55-60 (Fan tweaked)
Burn in - 75 @ 920mhz (Voltage and Fan Maxed out) (CPU gets 45-50)
Second, thinking about it, every one of those cables are getting used,
from the 2x PCIE Pin to the 6 sata, to the molex connectors, think I might have 1 molex free of the entire case
3rd, Vortex doing its job well, have yet to start tinkering with the FAN settings in the bios for the CPU,
Could probably tweak the Duty Cycle up a bit :/
4th, Media Programs as in? Video Player? Encoder? (For the Camera Vids)
Video Player - Zoom Player (with Unified Remote for android)
Encoder - Between Freemake and Handbrake at the moment.
Mini box's usual days work is JUST the SSD in there with the FAT drives in the main rig,
and the just using plain simple WINDOWS Mapped Network Drives from Main rig to get to Access to Everything...
(XBMC to come)
Just out of curiosity, isn't the CPU fan and the PSU fan working against each other instead of having the air flow in the same direction?
Very Likely, yet there is nothing much I can do about that besides flipping the PSU upside down...
Yet that said its not like the CPU is idling at 70c or the FERMI GEN 1 GPU at 90c...
Current temp readings are
GPU - 32
CPU - 38 and 40
Nothing special in the background running...
But will await comment from Juggy, that might be adding higher flow fan the the front, eagerly waiting for him to finish his rig and comment on his findings
Whats QUITE interesting and a LITTLE FACT for those that want M-ITX cases
Is that this little CM Elite 120 can fit more 3.5" Drives than the BitFenix Prodigy if you add a GPU thats longer than 190mm (WHICH MOST ARE)
To point the fact out, is that the 460 GTX HAWK is 238mm long, and its not really a LONG GPU at all...
With that said, if I were to put this 460 HAWK in a BitFenix Prodigy I would have had to remove the upper Drive rack, giving me only 2x 3.5" bays for drives
Which is in turn a deal breaker because I have 6 Sata Ports to use and need a Minimum of 3x3.5" bays for my drives.
The SDD is Irrelavant, can be shoved in a anti-static bag and shoved between the drives if need be...
Note that the fact of a "MEDIA BOX" that 2x3.5" drives would mostly lead to craving for more,
yet that said, taking into account the Prodigy has 5x3.5" bays given that you do NOT add GPU longer than 190mm
With the onboard of most M-ITX 1155 mobo's streaming or playing any from of media GPU is not a necessity, making 5x3.5" bays and one for SSD
BitFenix Prodigy is for M-ITX water cooling, for people that won't be using more than 2x 3.5" drives :/
Also interesting is seeing alot of these new M-ITX Mobos with the CPU socket against the PCIE lane, resulting in failure with wide coolers..
Only 2 Mobos I can find thats NOT got this problem is:
ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P8Z77-I DELUXE/WD
and EVGA's Stinger
EVGA | Products | EVGA Z77 Stinger (mITX) | 111-IB-E692-KR
Another,
Very few M-ITX that have more than 4 Sata ports.
Mine - Zotac H67-ITX-WIFI - 2x6G 4x3G
and the ASUS P8H67-I
ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P8H67-I
These are AFAIK the only 2 M-ITX Mobos that have more than 4 Sata Ports...
Alot of babble, lol, If I was not going to add a GPU to the MIX, I'd have had that BitFenix Prodigy anyday, shoved in 5x3TB's and my 64GB SSD and there you go...
But turning a Media Box into a gaming PC that you can shove as much in the little case as I did - PERFECT.
Show me other case thats this small that can carry this much
