Just putting this out there

I was strapped for time and did not have pads on hand

Soooooooo I was offered the services of @mjclaas as he offers repasting and repadding of gpus from his company.

Literally so happy with the results on a GPU I have being testing he dropped the temps by around 15 degrees on average with a 20 degree drop on the hotspot.

Excellent service and he only uses the best pads with thermal paste of your choice.

Recommend his service either if you don't have time or if you are a noob that doesn't know how to do it.

He works neatly and I like neatly.

I can confirm @mjclaas repaste/repad services are excellent, I received My GPU today and i'm very happy with the results.

After seeing @superrob shoutout i reached out to @mjclaas to get the same services.

My GPU (1660s) is the sunflower type with a single fan, it needed some help because it was Hot AF.

Talking to @mjclass was easy, he understood my situation. and made recommendations for how he could assist.

He replaced my thermal Pads and set me up with a high quality paste And all this within a day.

He went above and beyond in making sure that my GPU is in excellent condition and even helped me out with shipping as i'm a noob in that regard too. The service was fast, done in roughly 24hours.

I'm experiencing atleast a 10+ drops in temps on all my games, they are now averaging respectable temps now.

Thanks again @mjclaas excellent work.

Thing like this makes me wanna cry. I get so emotional.

I've repadded quite a few GPUs and must say there is a bit of skill and experience required to get optimal results, tested different thickness of gellid pads on memory and GPU on my 3080 and added additional pads on reverse to create contact with backplate. Water-cooled GPU now runs max 60 on GPU and 75 on memory under full load.

@mjclaas how much does this service cost?
Between R350 and R650 (excl. shipping), depending on the quantity of pads required for the card.

*EDIT* Stock prices have gone up quite a bit, thanks to our rock solid Rand...

Wow!

I also just want to give a huge shoutout to @mjclaas for a EXCELLENT repaste/repad service on my RX6700XT Red Devil as well as being such a super nice guy, it was very nice meeting you!

I did repaste/repad my GPU myself with Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad & Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut a few months prior so I did not expect a huge drops in temps but I wanted my GPU to be repasted/repaded by someone who knows how to and all I can say to you @mjclaas is.. JY KAN MAAR!

GPU temps dropped from 69c to 64c and the GPU hot spot temps dropped from 88-95c +/- to 79c.

I can highly recommend @mjclaas to anyone who wants to repaste/repad their GPU.

How much impact does changing the thermal pads and paste have, compared to just a repaste and keeping the original pads?

Pads are significantly more expensive and a repaste alone brought my temps down quite a lot. I'm curious to know if replacing the pads will bring it down even further or if it's not worth it at this point.

My experience using an AORUS 2080 super:
~ 84°C max before repaste
~ 66°C max after repaste

Massive drop from a repaste alone, didn't even use a higher end paste like Thermal Grizzly. I assume at this point changing the pads will have minimal effects?

The situations where repasting doesn't work suggest that there is another component responsible for the extra heat, It could be the VRAM, VRM or other things, for example ive seen around youtube and reddit people modding 3080,3070,3090 memory chips with copper for a better cooling solution and infact these things are being sold on ebay for example (Copper Shims) so the thermal pad change does work. Also it seems that GDDR6/GDDR6X vrams run pretty spicy in terms of temps but nvidia/amd can't be bothered to provide better cooling solutions for these parts beyond a premium graphics card to cut costs.

It depends, really. Yes, repaste will almost certainly bring temps down, especially for older cards. The paste dries out over time, and the stock paste is usually not very good. The same goes for the pads, though. With mass production, manufacturers cut costs where they can. Take the Gigabyte 30 series, for example. Some of the worst pads that I have seen. Crappy oily pads, that ends up leaking and staining the card. I witnessed this with two high-end Aorus cards. Pads with better conductivity (with the correct thickness) will almost certainly improve the hotspot and VRAM temperatures, where thermal paste is only helpful for the GPU die.

Im getting on here because what an amazing event. My Aorus RTX 3080 Extreme was doing 91°C within I will not lie 30 Seconds or more going into a Heaven test. After having @mjclaas taking the GPU today and returning it in the same day. GPU now sits at 80°C under stress testing thank you tons bud.

Thank you @mjclaas for excellent work done on my 6800xt.

What a pleasant experience and a great result after re-pasting and re-padding.

Pleasure dealing with him and would highly recommend anyone with GPU temp issues to make use of his services.

Thank you very much @mjclaas for all the effort, quick response, and awesome service under a heavy time crunch to repaste my 2 GPU's I can recommend this awesome man to repad and repaste your GPU any time. 100/10

Thank you @mjclaas for the great job done on my 3090 .

Absolute gentleman what an experience to see how a pro does the job.

Had an issue where the GPU hotspot was about 104-106 deg core temps around 81-82

After the wit warm tune up. the hotspot temps drop to 92 deg and core temps rised to 85 deg but could be due to enviromental factors.

Martin keep up the great job

5 Star job.

Another shoutout to @mjclaas. Did some wonder work on my 3080 Aorus Extreme. Was seeing GPU Core temps in the 85C and memory approaching 100C under gaming loads.

Post the tune up, the core is holding at 70C or so and memory down to 80C. Proper chuffed.

I also had the pleasure of watching him work and he definitely knows his stuff.

Anyone in CPT with this quality of workmanship? @mjclaas do you have a brother in CPT?

Got my repaste done yesterday and temps improved.

Before
Core Temps : 82
Hotsport Temps : 94

After
Core Temps : 72
Hotspot temps : 84

Thank you @mjclaas

Had my very stubborn Powercolor 6800xt done on Saturday. I really appreciate at the attempt from @mjclaas, despite Powercolor's documentation being terrible. Got between 5 - 7 degree drops in memory, VR SOC, etc. Really great experience with @mjclaas. Highly recommended.

Glad someone on here knows how to do a proper repaste.

Shout out to me for doing a Liquid Metal repaste of my 980 ti back in 2017 and getting Liquid Metal all over the PCB which killed the card.

Shout out to the member on here who knew how to clean it and took the GPU off my hands for R250.

Shout out to my insurance company for covering my stupidity.

How did the insurance process go? Did you say that you damaged it with the liquid metal?
I said I damaged it accidentally if that’s helpful.

They were only annoyed that I was under insured and I had to up my household cover from R200 000 to R750 000 (ish) if I recall correctly as the GPU was expensive to replace.

I’d been with them a while and they didn’t ask too many questions as my broker handled it.

They did send a company representative to my house to explain how I was under insured which could have been a phone call but I wasn’t arguing as the claim was approved.

That broker was hands down worth her commission with how good she was at liaising with the insurance firm and making sure everything was in order.

Sick, glad to hear it worked out. If I may ask, what are you currently paying for R750K cover?

Please also give the contact details of this amazing broker.

This was when I still lived in South Africa so it's a few years ago now but I'll dig up the details of the broker.

I'm sure that pricing has increased a lot.

I would just like to add my recommendation on this service here.

@mjclaas got my GPU temperature from hellish thermal throttling in seconds, to impressively cool even after a overclock.

I am extremely pleased with the result.

The process was also excellent with great communication throughout.

A hearty recommendation for anyone who has the need to get their GPU some professional attention.
