I despise the Scout, TBH, but it's not a bad idea to get some practice in. I land many shots with it if I do get it, but since it's not a one-shot kill, I typically get traded on the duel and someone else gets the kill. When are we getting some scout shots?
I used to play high sens as well until my brother (who is very into these things) convinced me lower is better. The rule of thumb that he described is, on a ~ 40cm wide ("medium") mousepad, going horizontally from one side to the other should turn your character around by a little more than 360deg. If your mousepad is smaller than this then maybe an upgrade is on the cards.I despise the Scout, TBH, but it's not a bad idea to get some practice in. I need to work on headshot accuracy, so perhaps it's a good idea to use the Scout a bit.
Regarding stuff to work on - I've got an apparently nuts eDPI (DPI x Sens). I've chatted about this to some other guys as well, and I've tried lowering my DPI and Sensitivity, but I simply can't play with it lower. In fact, the mouse's DPI switch actually boosts it higher.
So it seems a common setting is a mouse DPI of between 400 and 800, and an in-game sensitivity of between 1.5 and 2.5, for a total eDPI typically between 800 and 1,200, depending on the settings.
I, on the other hand, play on a DPI of 1,620, and an in-game sensitivity of 1.67 for an eDPI of 2,705. I've tried lowering it, but I simply can't. Anyone else playing around there so I don't feel alone?
I have no idea about the math's that gets you to whatever. I do play with 2200dpi, 1.50 sensitivity in CS. I do not know if I should use other settings, if it would improve or make me more accurate, faster etc. I just play, and enjoy, and sometimes get shot up a lot....I despise the Scout, TBH, but it's not a bad idea to get some practice in. Don't know if there is a lot of reasoning behind it - I think it's based on testing. Players with lower sens on average score better hits than those on high. Same concept with the 1 600 mouse DPI setting - people tested it and found that was the most accurate setting. I am sure we're not talking placebo-controlled double-blinded randomised-controlled trials here, but that is the general understanding among the community based on research.I have no idea about the math's that gets you to whatever. I have a lot less reaction time than when I was younger, faster and had less joint pains.
My son keeps on telling me to reduce my dpi, but for some reason, I don,t want to use huge movements to get anywhere.
Explain the reasoning behind dpi, and sens setting to me please.
Nice to see your journey so far @Toxxyc!
CS:GO is a great game and had hours of fun with my friends. Between this and Battlefield, it is the only games I truly invested time into. I loved competitive since you improved your skills over time and always put yourself out of your comfort zone. I do think playing with a nice group makes the whole competitive scene much more appealing, even if you are losing at the end of the game.
I enjoyed Arms Race for those days I didn't want to go full sweat mode (just kidding) and was actually a great warmup to get that aimed dialled in.
Our clan also hosted a private server on Sundays where we just jammed Arms Race and the host organised prices for the top 3 places (new keyboard/mouse, skins and my personal favourite the Happy Meal from McDs. Not going to lie, miss those gaming sessions, good times indeed @stroes
I also joined @AresFaithfull's team for a game or two and never again. I felt like a scrub compared to their skills. Late at night I also find the majestic @Colonel Sanders waving hisKFC chicken wingsnew fancy knife skin with matching gloves bunny hopping into my face to kill me - yes I cannot hit him once lol. Don't check that dude's inventory, you will get sucked in - honestly don't know where he got all of that Gupta money to afford it.
Luckily the game can run smoothly on any potato setup which is awesome but I must admit that a high refresh rate monitor is a must, it just made the whole experience so much smoother and with my aim.
Here are my stats just for the fun of it:
And I miss my credit card:
Sorry if this is derailing, just wanted to share my nostalgia.
Good luck with your journey to GE
Nice stats - Smurf, Baiter or talented - which one?
