When are we getting some scout shots?

When are we getting some scout shots?
I despise the Scout, TBH, but it's not a bad idea to get some practice in. I land many shots with it if I do get it, but since it's not a one-shot kill, I typically get traded on the duel and someone else gets the kill.

I need to work on headshot accuracy, so perhaps it's a good idea to use the Scout a bit.

Regarding stuff to work on - I've got an apparently nuts eDPI (DPI x Sens). I've chatted about this to some other guys as well, and I've tried lowering my DPI and Sensitivity, but I simply can't play with it lower. In fact, the mouse's DPI switch actually boosts it higher.

So it seems a common setting is a mouse DPI of between 400 and 800, and an in-game sensitivity of between 1.5 and 2.5, for a total eDPI typically between 800 and 1,200, depending on the settings.

I, on the other hand, play on a DPI of 1,620, and an in-game sensitivity of 1.67 for an eDPI of 2,705. I've tried lowering it, but I simply can't. Anyone else playing around there so I don't feel alone?

Oh yes, and another thing. You'll be seeing less and less Deagle videos. Since the nerf, I've not been very successful with the Deagle at all. The other day I got a 69 in 3 hits on a dude, and I regularly do 88 in 2 now, instead of 2-shot kills in the body. Heads are still fine, but the reduced body damage kinda disarmed me.

I used to play high sens as well until my brother (who is very into these things) convinced me lower is better. The rule of thumb that he described is, on a ~ 40cm wide ("medium") mousepad, going horizontally from one side to the other should turn your character around by a little more than 360deg. If your mousepad is smaller than this then maybe an upgrade is on the cards.

It took me a while to get used to it but I reckon my aim is better now (not that I am any good at any of these games). It just takes practice - you end up using your forearm more for big movements, flicks, etc. and your wrist/fingertips (depending on your grip style) for fine aim.

That said, according to him, the current wisdom is that a DPI setting on your mouse of 1 600 is the most "accurate" for most sensors (a couple of guys have tested it, you can google if you're really interested). So if I were you I'd set that as my mouse DPI (or maybe just leave it at 1 620 lol. Doubt anyone would notice a 20dpi difference) and then adjust in-game sensitivity.

And finally - not all pro gamers/streamers play at the lower DPI, some do use a higher DPI. So you don't need to feel like there is a hard and fast rule to play at low sens.

Yeah some gamers play higher, with Woxic being the highest pro at 2,400 eDPI. 40cm turning your character around? Yowzer. I do that with a flick of the wrist, maybe across 15cm, at most. My space is enough, I just don't use it.

Nice vids! With regards to sensitivity, been using about a quarter of what you now use (700edpi) for about 5 years, learning to aim with my arm was hard but it was totally worth it.

I have no idea about the math's that gets you to whatever. I do play with 2200dpi, 1.50 sensitivity in CS. I do not know if I should use other settings, if it would improve or make me more accurate, faster etc. I just play, and enjoy, and sometimes get shot up a lot....:)
I have a lot less reaction time than when I was younger, faster and had less joint pains. :ROFLMAO:
My son keeps on telling me to reduce my dpi, but for some reason, I don,t want to use huge movements to get anywhere.
Explain the reasoning behind dpi, and sens setting to me please.

Don't know if there is a lot of reasoning behind it - I think it's based on testing. Players with lower sens on average score better hits than those on high. Same concept with the 1 600 mouse DPI setting - people tested it and found that was the most accurate setting. I am sure we're not talking placebo-controlled double-blinded randomised-controlled trials here, but that is the general understanding among the community based on research.

OK, lets talk about eDPI for a second. eDPI is the important number, as it's your DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. DPI (or more accurately, CPI) is the number of times your mouse makes a movement in any given direction for every inch you move it on the mousepad. So a CPI of 1,000 will move your mouse 1,000 "counts" as picked up by the sensor, for every 1 inch you move it on the mousepad.

The in-game sensitivity, or just called "sens" or "sense", is how the game interprets that. If it's set to 1, the game will take each "count" from the mouse and use it to move your cursor (or crosshair) for 1 count as well. If it's 2, it'll move your crosshair for 2 counts for each count from the mouse.

eDPI, or Effective DPI, is the result of that in-game sensitivity, and how it reads the mouse's input to the game, and that's the important number to work on. Effectively, a 400 mouse DPI and a 2.0 in-game sensitivity, and an 800 mouse DPI and 1.0 in-game sensitivity will give you the same 800 eDPI.

Now, why is this important? Well, according to the guys in the know (not me, I'm still learning), the higher the sensitivity, the more difficult it is to get proper spray patterns and accurate movements done correctly in the game. This makes sense. The lower the sensitivity, the more movement you need to move the crosshair, so your larger movements can be made finer and more accurate, or precise. If your sensitivity is too high, tiny movements in your mouse relate to huge movements on screen, and that makes it more difficult to make small adjustments.

Now I understand this, but I can't seem to play on a lower eDPI. I tried. I tried it at 1,200 the other day - and I sucked. Movement is just SOOOOO SLOOOOOOW but I guess that's where fast arms come in?

Nice to see your journey so far @Toxxyc!

CS:GO is a great game and had hours of fun with my friends. Between this and Battlefield, it is the only games I truly invested time into. I loved competitive since you improved your skills over time and always put yourself out of your comfort zone. I do think playing with a nice group makes the whole competitive scene much more appealing, even if you are losing at the end of the game.

I enjoyed Arms Race for those days I didn't want to go full sweat mode (just kidding) and was actually a great warmup to get that aimed dialled in.

Our clan also hosted a private server on Sundays where we just jammed Arms Race and the host organised prices for the top 3 places (new keyboard/mouse, skins and my personal favourite the Happy Meal from McDs. Not going to lie, miss those gaming sessions, good times indeed @stroes

I also joined @AresFaithfull's team for a game or two and never again. I felt like a scrub compared to their skills. Late at night I also find the majestic @Colonel Sanders waving his KFC chicken wings new fancy knife skin with matching gloves bunny hopping into my face to kill me - yes I cannot hit him once lol. Don't check that dude's inventory, you will get sucked in - honestly don't know where he got all of that Gupta money to afford it.

Luckily the game can run smoothly on any potato setup which is awesome but I must admit that a high refresh rate monitor is a must, it just made the whole experience so much smoother and with my aim.

Here are my stats just for the fun of it:

Sorry if this is derailing, just wanted to share my nostalgia.

Good luck with your journey to GE

Nice stats - Smurf, Baiter or talented - which one?

None of the above - Clutch King.

Just kidding, but had a few moments - I used to play BF4 competitively in DGL back in the days.

But if you want to see talent, you should check out the Forge Gaming Network team. :)

@Andrew_Smith Cool, I also used to play BF4 DGL a bit, but then CSGO happened. I really struggle to find joy in any other game, although I have an extreme love hate relationship with the game.

@Toxxyc I guess you should play on the sense that's comfortable. I'm on 1600dpi 0.32 ingame. might seem slow to some, but it works for me. I do struggle to shoot anything that's not directly in front of me xD. Also, it does feel like the deagle has become more inaccurate, although it was only a body shot dmg nerf.

anyway, here's my csgo stats if anyone was wondering, wel for my main acc...

I'm slowly turning down my in-game sens but it's not really making a difference. I'm missing some flicks, but it'll just take some getting used to I guess.

Lowering my eDPI sloooowly. I'm at 2,268 now in the clips above.

I started playing again after watching your vids. It reminded me how much fun I used to have especially playing casual. Played a match yesterday at Nuke and got 23 kills mainly with the AWP. I just ran around like a mad thing playing super aggressive and it worked. Probably took some people by surprise.

I love the aggressive AWP play. Like you said, people don't expect it and I take a lot of people by surprise that way. At short range it's a very formidable no-scope weapon with just a tiny bit of practice, and it's surprisingly accurate with just a noscope flick in the right direction. I need to dig up some of the clips with the AWP I still have at home. Too many to post (people are saying I'm spamming their YT boxes) LOL.

Another smooth 5K with the AWP on Mirage.
