So I am trying to find a way on the cheap and easy that I could host a PZ server for myself and a mate.
We don't always have time to play together but like the idea of a shared world that we can hop in and out of as and when we want.

I looked into hosting but it's overwhelming to say the least.
I don't have any spare machines lying around the the moment and needing something along these lines:
- Dual Core CPU min (Quad preferred)
- 4-8GB RAM
- 60GB SSD

Those seem to be the min specs that I can find online.
Does anyone have any recommendations for either small machines or a hosting solution that would work for something simple like this?
Thanks!

Tried Azure or other cloud provider?

They seem to start from about 50USD per month (Az).

I host a zomboid server, if you don't plan to use any major story/feature mods and only a couple of quality of life mods then you can get away with fairly old quad core machines, important part is the cpu and then the ram, ssd is optional and it helps with the initial loading but once everything is loaded into ram the ssd isn't really needed.

First machine I used was a q8200 cpu with 8gb ram in a hp ml110 g5 server (which I have since upgraded from when adding additional mods, let me know if you want this machine), this will work perfectly fine for 2-4 players, desync and lag issues only start cropping up when there is an extremely large number of zomboids on screen, typically only happens when going into louiseville and start blasting everything with a shotgun which attracts all the zomboids nearby. Even then the desync is more for remote connections, you experience this far less when playing on lan, and this issue is supposedly fixed when build 42 is released and they move the multiplayer architecture from p2p to centralised server to peer, among other optimisations they are doing.
