Deal Thread URL: [For Sale] - Microsoft Surface Book i5-6300U 4GB DDR4 128GB SSD 13.5" | Combo (multi-item) sales & full systems
Seller: @The Coder

Buyer: @johnny_h
Description of Bad Deal:
On December 27th I contacted @The Coder to be next in line to buy his surface book in case the deal with the other buyer falls through.

December 29th he replies that the surface book is available as the courier couldn't collect in time for the buyer, and the buyer needed it urgently so canceled it. I was next in line and gave me his whatsapp to communicate there.
This should've been my first red flag.

On WhatsApp he sent me pics of the device, and it didn't look like a surface book to me(I owned one before). I asked him about it, and after insisting that it's 100% the surface book. I sent links to the surface book and what it should look like, he sent voice notes that he's certain it's a surface book, then he ran some commands and saw it's a surface pro 4.
This should've been my second red flag.

It being a surface pro 4 wasn't a problem for me though because I wanted it as a tablet anyway.

I paid him on the 30th December and he said he'll ship it off.

I messaged on the 3rd January for an update and on the 4th he said that it'll be shipped on later that day.

I got busy and didn't follow up until the this past Friday in the morning. He replied saying that it was shipped and he'll provide the tracking number later, but didn't reply after.
I followed up yesterday for the tracking number but still didn't get any reply.
I tired again this morning, but got no reply.

@ReD_IcE also had similar troubles with him
Thank you, I wish I saw that myself.
My dumbass thought that a 100% rating meant that it's 100% positive feedbacks, but apparently neutral ratings don't count.
Gonna pay more attention to the feedback stats from now on.

Like in the thread from ReD_IcE, @The Coder guy seems pleasent guy but the deal itself is bad.

The latest message was at 4am yesterday morning,
"Hi there yes I will get this sorted today. A pc I sent 2 weeks ago also got messed up at the durban depo. Please give me your email too so when I do get the tracking code moving that you also get updates"
But no update since.

What courier does @The Coder use that keeps messing up at the depo?

I ship like 5-10 parcels daily, and have an issue maybe twice a year.

Imo looks like excuses to buy time.

A quick update, @The Coder has sent me a message that he's been working with the TCG to sort out the issue and it should all be sorted out now, and will be leaving the Durban depot tomorrow. I should hopefully have it before end of the week.
Will update in a few days/when I get it

Sure, go for it. See if you can get them to stop stealing and defrauding Carbonite members.

EDIT: Because let me be clear, we can pull A LOT of info on them, and I can and I will share it publicly so they can be taken to stick.

I missed your message earlier, but it's TCG.

Thank you very much @Toxxyc , and @Sunshine for the offer to help, I'll pm you in a bit.

@Sith , don't mean to drag you into this, but I see you bought a PC from him, and was curious if that's the one he referenced in one of his messages to me?

I know time timelines don't match up, but who knows. Did you get the PC as yet?

Hey @johnny_h ,

I purchased the PC from him on Friday, he then delivered on Saturday. This was a 2nd transaction though as I previously purchased a GPU from him last year.

Also got me on rampage v1 10 extreme combo, could not get it post when i recieved it

Waiting for refund...

My friend stays down road from him, he showed me picture of his house. So will take it further.

I live a few minutes away from these guys, and I've got friends that know them.

If anybody wants me to pay them a visit and request an update in person, I'm happy to.

(with admin blessing ofc)
Happy to go with you, i know where he stays💪🏼

So a bit of an update.
He shipped the surface yesterday, and I received it today.
A bit disappointed that the screen has a yellow tint on the sides (apparently this is due to the battery swelling and pushing against the screen) but I at least got something.

It's a strange one, he could've scammed me, but was trying to make it right.
However there were some not soo honest aspects like when it was shipped, the actual device (Surface pro instead of the Surface Book) and the condition.

Surface battery is located across the entire bottom, the top left/right is typically where the cpu fan is located and the other side is the wifi. Yellow tint is usually the display itself that has a manufacturing issue.
