SATA hdd choices

Looking for some opinions on Sata HDD, which drive to choose for a secondary drive (using a smallish 128mb SSD currently for Startup disk)

The WD group of drives green/blue/red/black for size of 1TB price roughly as follows: 770/770 /900/870

I understand the basics behind green is for energy saving, black performance etc.

Then you also get two other drives that seem interesting

The WD Raid Edition 1tb at around R1200
The Seagate Enterprise 1tb with 128mb cache at around R1300.

Now my question is
- Which drives would you go for and why?
- Any experience with the 128mb vs 64mb cache drives?


What would be the theoretical/practical best setup you would go for, for YOUR HDD setup if you had the cash available?
256gb SSD x2 in raid (which config?)
128gb SSD and 2-3gb SATA drive
256 SSD & SATA? drive
etc

For storage I would get the cheapest (as Sprint said) hdds, and put them in RAID 1 off the motherboard. So you have a backup if one of them dies. This is what I do with 2 x Seagate 2TBs and 1 SSD for OS.

Go for the cheapest regular hard drive for storage and a single SSD.
There's no point in speed with regular drives-SSD has taken over and far exceeds the speed of RPM regular drives.

RAID shows little speed increase with SSD. Go for a Samsung 840 /840 Pro or something and you'll not regret it.

i would buy 3tb external and use it inside my pc.

retailers just ask to much for internals and i am not willing to pay that rip off prices

Just bought another 3tb external for 1k the other day from IC.

but atm i use them as externals , as i switch to laptop with externals for downloading.

Internals in my main pc i use 1tb samsung f3 drives , they just plain awesome.
