It's unfortunate as it's a locked LGA 2011 CPU.

I picked up my 3960x for only a little bit more. X79 Mobos are hard to come by.

My 3820 runs at 4.5Ghz with no voltage changes. Wouldn't call that locked. I've had it over 4.7ghz already with minor tweaks.

In the picture I'm playing AC:Origins on ultra settings at 4k.

I wouldn't call it unlocked either, as one has to baseclock OC it, after capping it at 43 multiplier.

It just sits in a weird market space where the motherboards are horrendously overpriced... If you were spending the money on an x79 mobo, you'd want a 6 core CPU.

You could get an Z77 mobo + 3770k for the same money as an X79 mobo.
