So I bought it without checking the connection and thought I'd just plug in a VGA to HDMI adapter, but nope. It works on my desktop and my personal laptop, but I've tried everything to get it to work on my work laptop and gave up after a few weeks.

Just to emphasize this part - this screen does not work with converters it seems - on DVI at least (no VGA to test with).

Either DVI to DVI or VGA to VGA and you're good to go.
