Hi Guys,

I would like to get a idea of people's opinoin on the Palit and Zotac brands.

I'm looking to upgrade my GF card and the Palit and Zotac cards are cheaper than the other brands. In comparison, a Palit RTX 4070Ti is not that much more than an Asus RTX 4070.

I would love to hear some thoughts on this.

Thanks

Spoke to a guy that repairs gpus once and he says that palit actually uses very high quality components on their gpus pcb's so i guess thats a good point for them, zotac i cant comment on much but i know from crypto mining that zotacs memory temps were always crap becuase they used bad quality thermal pads

Palit is the world's largest GPU manufacturer. They're cheap in SA because Wootware imports them directly, so no distributor markup.

Woot also imports Zotac but I've heard of more issues with Zotac GPUs (cooling, RGB issues etc) than with Palit. I have a Palit 3070 Ti and it's easily the nicest GPU I've ever had (although I've never had an Asus lol).

Ok Thanks. It's nice to see a 3 year warranty on these cards as well. Peace of mind.

Look for reviews of the specific card you are interested in and look at their warranty cover. Get the one that you feel has the least tradeoffs for you.

while brands build up a brand image not all their products perform the way their other products do. Especially noticeable within the same generation or series of cards.

BUY PRODUCTS NOT BRANDS.

I've always been more comfortable with known brands. I've owned an Inno3D before which was very good and a Gainward 970 GTX which was also very good.

Yeah I get you. My thing is, I value reliability over performance. In this case though the thought of paying R1000 more to get a Ti is very tempting. So far the Palit reviews I've checked are good, and they come with a 3 year warranty.

To be honest, I'll buy Palit again in 2-3 years

I have Palit RTX 4070 Ti, and it surprisingly very good quality and comes with full metal backplate to prevent sagging. Very quiet fans under full load. The quality is very good compare to Aorus using plastic everywhere and asking 15% more than Palit

Only downside is the RGB control doesn't have dim option.

Yes I read about the RGB control. Is there an option in the software to turn it off when you start a game? I'll probably only have it on while idle and browsing.

There is no option to auto off when gaming, it have to do it manually from their software. You'll love it, the build quality is top notch

EDIT: Read @goldfritter comment below for details

Can't comment on Zotac or Asus, but had a Palit 1660 Super and on a Palit 3070 now, both of which work great.

The Palits come with ARGB sync cables so you can connect them to an ARGB header on your motherboard. Then you can use your motherboard's software or 3rd party apps like Signal to control the RGB on the GPU.

I have had two Palit cards and never had issues with them, they offer great value considering their performance is within spec compared to the more expensive brands for quite a bit less money.

I've had Palit's before and I loved them. I'd go for Palit any day of the week.

I currently have a Gigabyte card, which will be my last ever Gigabyte card.

+1

I currently have the 3070 Jetstream, and if it wasn't for the VRAM concerns I would not have considered changing up (I game at 1440p).

Note: on this 8GB card, both Witcher 3 & Witcher 2077 have stutters when running maxxed out visuals. I have to drop to tier-below to have a good experience.

I see the Palit 4070 Ti jetstream doesn't have any RGB.and a bit cheaper than the Gaming Pro

Do you have proof of this? - Quite surprising (not doubting you), also curious where all the other brands rank.
See my Wikipedia link above. Granted it's based on oldish data, they may have been overtaken since then.

Palit is from Taiwan and Zotac is from China, need i say more?

I own a Zotac 4090 Trinity OC. I've previously owned an MSI RTX3080 Gaming X Trio and ASUS 1080Ti Strix.

Overall I'm impressed. Minimal noise, minimal coil whine, sub 70c temperatures even with my 360mm CPU radiator being the front intake which heats everything up), memory temperatures are great (well below the RTX30 series which were over 100c on some MSI and Gigabyte cards), well built (feels like quality when you hold it), looks good, 3 year warranty through Wootware, it is absolutely reliable too.

At the end of the day, it depends on the price difference. When I was shopping I already maxed out my budget and adding R5k for an ASUS/MSI was out of the question. I would definitely choose a Palit/Zotac 4070Ti over an ASUS/MSI/AORUS 4070.

The only gripe I have with Palit is their design in terms of aesthetics. The 4000 series have definitely improved, but always thought of them as a bit of an eyesore

This is my smooth-brained opinion. I also mouth breath and struggle to tie my shoelaces

I was in the exact same boat, although you can't get anything higher than a 4090 - the price of the Asus/MSI etc. 4080's were close enough to the cheaper 4090's that it was almost stupid to not just buy a 4090. I'm also happy with my Zotac, pretty much the same experience as you - I was hesitant at first but the 3 year warranty via Wootware was/is a huge perk.

haha yeah i get that, im not particularly in love with my gamingpro 3090, performance is great but i never feel the fizz when i look at it, the plan was always to custom loop cool it but now im poor so ill have to keep looking at that eyesore haha
