Howdy all

Right so whilst playing some BF2042 the other night, i realised that my gpu was not all in fact quite, and the fans ramp up rather loud and its audible,

WIth open back headphones, it becomes more dominant at times which has now finally pushed me to the limit a bit.

So in the quest for silencing this issue, i have read up about better thermals and noise levels with a custom fan setup

yes void the warranty bla bla, so be it

Below is what i have made that is currently being 3d printed as i type this

This is version 1 to see if everything lines up and fits correctly with how i have measured.

But the idea is de shroud the existing cooler, heatsink sits ontop of the bracket and then screws into bracket.

I have made seperating joints to hopefully get the model to be sturdy once pushed together and screwed into place.

Then underneath the 2 x 120 mm fans ( Soon to be Noctua if i can find stock )

Will update this once all is done and completed, currently printing in PLA to ensure the model is 100% before i start printing the final product in PETG

Stay tuned

I have deshrouded an old asus 1080ti and let the fans below the gpu handle cooling, was around a 10 degree difference and the sound dropped considerably. Deshroud didn't remove any warranty stickers if I recall.
Your bracket should make things look a bit cleaner than what I created

I love the idea, it’s great.

Just want to suggest a G12 bracket plus an AIO as an option too.

I’ll be moving to AIO cooling for my 3080 FE next year.

While the G12 is a really useful piece of kit, you may want to make double sure it will work on the 3080. It's not listed on NZXT's site as compatible, and googling it reveals gems like

and

Lastly, have you ever actually used Tech South Africa? There is nothing about them on Hellopeter or Facebook, and Google has an address for them in Joburg even though their site says Bloemfontein.

I know that it doesn’t fit my GPU. I will be modding it with a drill.

I’m too cheap for water cooling. Cheapest FE waterblock here is £150 with most being £250.

Found fancy EK one second hand for £150.

In that case, feel free to post a build log, I am sure many would be interested to see how such a mod can be successfully executed.

I actually will do since there are a lot of people asking.

I also don't really care about looks that much and I just want my ITX rig to not run at very hot all the time.

I have 2 times 140mm fans at the top of the chassis and I can just feel the heat. It's mad.

Miz3r Please upload your design to Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects

Then other people can void their warranty lol
Hi Hi
I will deffos do so

However one thing to note on this, my card is way different from other RTX3080s, with the hole layout, so not sure if this would work for others,

I have changed it so much after wasting so much PETG and time printing, and realising the holes were not alligned correct, or out by 1mm, yes 1mm 5 hour print boom wasted

But i have it all 100% now, going to be printing tonight again,

So far with stock Lian Li Mesh 2 case fans on the bracket the card is cooling the same as stock fans, but noise is almost non existant, those fans move alot of air so the DB levels at like 75% at full load almost dont hear them but no where near as loud as previous

And on idle i dont even hear the fans which before i could, so progress :)

Just going to try get me some Gentle Typhoon fans, as skipping the premium price of Noctuas as the GT are by the looks of things ( better )

Bra what even. That card isn't even a chonka.
I think it it's beyond sag. Even the cooling fins/pipes look bent? Do the fans still spin?
GG WP

It still works, it was bent in an accident but it's been replaced now. Just thought I would share it for a laugh.

wth

definitely name the brand that was willing to replace THAT

they should get a +1, unless the accident actually involved them folding their packaging double, while the card was still inside :p
